This is Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (1998 OVA) episode 1 of 2 @ 8:35 by the way. Top-tier OVA (including the '02/'03 sequel), just short enough to get me interested in reading the manga, which has also proven to be top-tier. I fucking love robot girls. I love transgender allegories. I love exploring the boundaries of the human and inhuman. It fucking rocks.
YKK^[No relation to the zipper company.]'s soundtrack was done by Choro Club, who also did the soundtrack for the ARIA anime. Both are masterpieces of iyashikei sci-fi but in very different ways.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is great by the way. The Manga is much, much longer than the OVA.
