  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). It was the oil companies.

Oil companies. The oil companies knew before Congress knew.

Did Trump tell Chevron, or did Chevron tell Trump?

As the polls close like a casket

On truth devoured

A Silent play in the shadow of power

A spectacle monopolized

The camera's eyes on choice disguised

Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?

Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

Yes a spectacle monopolized

They hold the reins and stole your eyes

Or the fistagons

The bullets and bombs

Who stuff the banks

Who staff the party ranks

More for Harris or the son of a slumlord

None of the above fuck it cut the cord

Credit is due to some Lemmite, I am unfortunately not able to properly attribute this work of art.

Makes sense. Trump doesn't answer to Congress. So no point telling them. He does however answer to oil companies.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 26 points 2 days ago

He answers to bribes and adoration.

Can't tell Congress because "Congress Leaks" (his words), but oil Companies like Chevron are known to never spill anything, right?

Actually I guess you could say that if oil companies are good about anything, it's keeping their mouths shut. So from a defense/security perspective, the logic actually tracks...

Still illegal.

He didn't "tip them off" about an action he was taking. He CONSULTED with them to see if it was an action he SHOULD take. If they would have said they couldn't do anything, we wouldn't be in this situation. If they wouldn't have said the problem is Maduro, we wouldn't be in this situation.

“They want to go in, and they’re going to do a great job for the people of Venezuela, and they’re going to represent us well,” Trump said. “The infrastructure is rusty, rotten, most of it is unusable. It’s old. It’s broken. You see pipes lying all over the ground, nothing’s been invested for years.”

“The country is a mess. It’s been horribly run. The oil is just flowing at a very low level,” Trump told reporters on Sunday. “Even if it was badly run, it should have more income, more oil than what they do. So we’re going to have the big oil companies going in, they’re going to fix the infrastructure, they’re going to invest money."

This quote sounds like it was written for Vincent Adultman.

[–] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago

Hmm, maybe we should have taken it seriously when he promised them he’d do whatever they wanted if they helped him get reelected…

Cannot wait for when he kicks the bucket.

Speaking aboard Air Force One on Sunday, the billionaire president told reporters that he talked to oil companies “before and after” the attack, describing them as crucial to “fix the infrastructure” in the South American country after the capture of Nicolás Maduro.

He's personally pocketed an estimated $4.6B in 2025.
