Should the dryer be upside down?
Dull Men's Club
An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.
1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.
2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.
3. Avoid repetitive topics.
4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.
There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.
Some other communities to consider before posting:
5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.
6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.
7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

I come from the land down under - its actually the house thats upside down and I rotated the image.
Ok, then tell me why is the washing machine upside down?
Coriolis effect.
At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within OPs laundry room?
...yes....?
May I see it?
No.
So I can reach the controls
It's not. The dryer need to be installed 'upside down' so the heat radiates down (from our perspective) to the northern hemisphere.
It's so he can reach the controls while it's mounted! I guess anyway - Idk why really.
Yes thats correct, the official instructions tell you to mount it upside down and the kit it comes with only works one way.
I've always found it irritating on others I've done over the years but there ya go.
Never seen this done before. Glad to hear it’s a supported configuration.
Same. I was genuinely scratching my head before I came to the comments. Reaching the controls didn't even enter my mind 😂. I've seen stacked/combo units before, but never a wall mounted dryer.
Maybe this is less dull than I thought - perhaps mildly interesting?

Definitely qualifies in my book
We dull men are fascinated by your mounting the dryer, well done.
The dryer is mildly interesting maybe, but your original post on the shelves (good job, by the way) qualifies for this community lol
Does this mean before you had it mounted it was actually upside down? Like the controls and all the text was upside down?
As long as the heat dissipation still works correctly this way
The exhaust vent can be angled right towards the window, or alternatively, ducted out the window.
My first thought as well
I've never seen a dryer installed upside down before.. woah
It’s Australia and super common in apartments here. INB4 everything up side down, down unda 😉
Wait, so it's not a joke? Are all dryers upside-down mountable, or is it a special type?
I dunno about all driers, maybe not heat pump ones which have a reservoir for the steam / moisture to collect? But standard driers, yeah. Usually done in apartments with limited space for wall mounting above a top load washer (which are very common here), and let you reach the dial.
Yeah, this seems like it would be potentially an issue if the idler wheels aren’t designed to support the drum weight like this.
Edit: looks like there are a couple brands that allow this, Electrolux being one.
Seems like a bad idea, but maybe it's kosher if the manufacturer says so?
All the dryer-blood is rushing to its head
Can we see your cat, please.

This is Sylvie
She's beautiful, got like a mona lisa look. Thank you.
Now this is what the internet is supposed to be for! Cat photos
Cant wait for the follow up post where things keep falling off the shelf into fresh cat shit.
Is that drier made to be hanged like that or have you improvised?
I have a condenser drier but it does have a hose outlet to connect it to a drain. I wouldn't trust it to be on its head though
Made for it - comes with a kit to wall mount if required.
Quite common in Australia and New Zealand.
Pretty cool. I hope the vibrations wont lead to a problem tho.
It doesnt really vibrate much, simple belt driven barrel and a heating element.
The thing is 40kg fully loaded so it would take a fair whack for it to come off the mount which is supported across 3 studs.
The best thing is that now the room works both ways up in freefall.
I absolutely hate putting shelves up. Something about the amount of measuring required, and it’s so unforgiving if it’s even slightly wonky.
The wall on the left is out of level by about 15mm bottom to top. However I have a laser level and it makes life very easy when needing to do any of this stuff.
Second vote for a laser level. It’s still miserable, but easier.
Nothing quite like lining things up with the ceiling, getting out the level, and realizing your house isn't level.
I didn't know you could mount a dryer on the wall, and I really didn't know you could install it upside down. This is an educational day.
Is that a condensing dryer? Or vented?
