He's shitting on the Kennedys because he wants people to think the thing that tarnished the legacy of the Kennedy center was anything except trump putting his name on it.

Yup, it's a basic part of how he works - rather than spend any effort to self-improve, he'll go out of his way to pull down everyone else to his level so nobody has an advantage of being a better person. (Or gaslight to create that perception, either works fine for him.)
If Trump has a problem with the Kennedys I can think of a Kennedy he could fire...
It'd be really funny if RFK did an assassination over this.
Since we know that RFK Jr lacks conviction as much as he lacks scruples, that seems an unlikely outcome.

Has anyone ever tried to teach Trump the adage "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything".
I don't think that adage applies in all circumstances. There are times and places for criticism. But when somebody dies, if you don't have nice things to say about them and their families, it's the time to keep your trap shut.
