This feels like one of those ironic joke things that people obsessed with the "truth is somewhere in the middle" unironically taking the middle position here. I doubt there are very many people who aren't ultra wealthy who actually use the media to control people.

The final one is just an absurd extension, poking fun at the first two. Children, the elderly, and small business owners are generally considered beyond reproach. Claiming otherwise is funny.
