Heliamphora sarracenioides x minor Black Burgundy

Heliamphora have a reputation for being difficult, but I’ve had good luck so far growing on a windowsill, even in my very dry climate. She gets lots and lots of light!

Bonus utricularia sandersonii and u. calycifida in the background

Oh cool, it almost looks like an alien plant lmao

Carnivorous plants are truly alien.

I should call her.

I saw dozens or hundreds growing in fens this spring. It was such a treat!

They looked a lot like that, except with a bunch of Scarlet Paintbrush thrown in!

Oh I bet that was pretty! There's definitely Indian paintbrush all around this fen, but not on it. When the time of year is right a bunch of fringed gentians pop up there and it's beautiful.

Take some feeding picks please! Or maybe a video?!

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

They don't move. It's a pitcher plant.

[–] atomicorange@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

You can watch me feed them diluted fertilizer with an eyedropper 😅. If I ever catch a bug falling in I’ll definitely upload a video though!
