Once I asked my phone to navigate to a place via public transport. A normal question Google Assistant can handle. Instead that stupid Gemini LLM started trying to give me a list of directions instead of just opening Google Maps.

I can't even ask Gemini to set an alarm or timer. Both things that were dead simple with assistant.

It straight up told me it can't do it. I switched back to Bixby for trying to actually do things on my phone.

I actually preferred assistant for this task. It was much easier than opening clock, navigating, etc.

The thing about AI shit is it's inconsistent so you can't even help each other troubleshoot lmao

I wish they would have delayed deploying it to Android Auto – not only is it slower, it also tends to interpret questions that you are texting someone as questions it should answer.

Mf, you literally asked me what I wanted to text my partner, why are you answering the question I wanted to ask her?

That would be maddening. It seems wild that all of these voice assistants (LLM or no) are a decade old and still have very basic issues and limitations. I wonder if these huge companies are bad at product development or if it's simply a doomed category?

Gemini is a hot steamy pile of garbage.

Asked for the weather and it didn't stop talking for minutes

If they are so dead set on Gemini being the future, open source assistant.
