(I typically don't, myself. I look for a reply that gives me a tl;dr of it.)
I don't read the article if there's any kind of paywall, advertisements or too complicated gdpr shit. Otherwise I at least try to skim the article.
It depends on how funny of a joke I can make from just the headline.

I read the title and the body but I usually don't click on any links unless they're really good.
Ditto. Unless the comments really suggest reading the article itself.
I read the title, and if it interests me, go to the comments.
And if there's something in the comments that hooks me enough to comment, I do. But often, I just check the article just so that I didn't miss something important. I sometimes still do miss something important though.
But before I make a reply in anger, I check the article and the surrounding context first. I still have my blind spots, however.
Reading the title takes too long! I conduct a post vibes séance and respond based off that, namaste

I'm always honest! Also I don't always finish reading the title.
I'd say it's 95/5... I usually read the whole post or skim read it at least before replying, but sometimes I'll start typing and realize the post was very different from what I thought it was halfway through my rant, so I just discard it before posting (a couple of times I didn't though).
Rule 1. Never read the article.
Rule 2. React with emotion.
Rule 3. You’re always right.
Rule 4. Anyone who disagrees with you, is always wrong.
At least that’s pretty much how Reddit works. I guess many people imported the rules when they emigrated.
Oh and almost forgot, my personal answer: It depends. I try to read the post or article before commenting, but I’ve deviated from my own standards a few times.

You forgot rule 5: If you can’t think of anything insightful to say, be sarcastic and dismissive instead.
So many people here (as on Reddit) seemingly can’t resist the urge to drop an oh-so-clever zinger so they can watch the updoots roll in with zero critical thinking skills required. It’s tragic.
Usually it’s combined with rule 1, so they’ll be reacting to something in the title without realising the article explained what they’re griping about. Confidently incorrect, always.

Confidently incorrect? Sounds strangely familiar. So that’s where the LLMs learned it from. Reddit training data doing its thing apparently.
I read the comments first to see if it's even worth it. Websites are hostile now, with coercive tracking 'consent' popups, newsletter signup popups, 'related content' interjections every paragraph - and that's with an adblocker
If the title is clickbaity or deliberately void of context, I scroll past. If the title gives a reasonable idea of what the context is, I read on.
TBF (to myself) I sometimes use a clickbaity title if I think it sounds good.

If it's too long and I don't wanna read it, I just don't reply.
For articles, I dont read the post body/article*, but I will read the comments then comment (which is already rare)
For all other posts, I do read the post body + the comments.
*If the article seems interesting, I'll read it. Usually though I dont.
Reading the title tells me if it's something I'm interested in. This is when I click and read the body. If the title isn't of interest, I'll mark it as read and move on.
I tend to, unless I know the subject matter already.
If the title is interesting I'll read the text and if I decide to reply there's a good chance I'll sigh and discard my comment and move on.
Although sometimes I won't notice a post with an image has text underneath.
