"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

It's amazing to me that no one who made the show even watched it before the just slapped it at the beginning of season 2. Didn't older shows have test audiences?

They’re not involved. That’s all studio trying to make sure people from the production don’t get paid.

The studio people also made sure that in the future those creatives will be involved

How much longer until the last cretin understands how fucking limited the capabilities of LLMs are?

i think we're in a massive economic crisis. but it's like when the coyote falls off a cliff. he won't fall until he notices he fucked up.

that's the current economy. it's going to be hell once the AI bubble pops. it's way past due.

Wow. This is a great analogy. Thank you for the visual.

AI bubble brought to you by the coyote school of economics

As a fucking google search would do 15 years ago?

But not anymore thanks to enshittification, thus the amazing use case for “AI”

Thank fuck there are alternatives to google that keep doing it.

Never: line must go up.

When this shit is over, they will be on to the next thing, investors standing around them, watching the bubble inflate while fondling their dicks.

Whenever stupid investors catch on and start taking their money back.

Another homerun for the delulu techbros in Patagonia vests:

“Video Recaps marks a groundbreaking application of generative AI for streaming,” VP of technology at Prime Video, Gérard Medioni, explained in a statement. “This first-of-its-kind feature demonstrates Prime Video’s ongoing commitment to innovation and making the viewing experience more accessible and enjoyable for customers.”

[–] KraeuterRoy@feddit.org 8 points 15 hours ago

I fail to see the innovation. Season recaps have been around forever, they were just done by people. So what's new here, aside from latestagecapitalism-flavored salary avoidance?

Can the AI give a recap at any point while watching a season? If so, the slopification (aka second-screen compatibilty) has reached new highs. Soon, people will probably get scene recaps within episodes from 20 minutes ago - just in case the where on the latrine back then.

Awful.
