You can thank Maduro for that. Chileans are scared of the drug gangs that came infiltrated among the Venezuelan refugees who fled to Chile.

venezuelans, much like indians and muslims, are the main concern for many countries right now.

Right or left isn't the threat. It's populism and autocracy that is what is so risky.

I love how, according to the article, he's far right for wanting less crime and more deportations while the communist is "center-left" :)))

[Being pro-Pinochet] doesn't make you far right. You can strongly respect him for being a hero against communism and still also not want a repeat of his extremism when the USSR is no longer a apocalyptic threat.

[Being pro-Pinochet] doesn't make you far right.

He literally had former SS run orphanages to experiment on and torture literal children, including babies and toddlers.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

But he also threw leftist dissidents out of helicopters, so who's to say if someone supporting him is really far right or not?

Incredible how one racist lie has spread like wildfire.

what drugs are even produced in venezuela that these people find the notion of “venezuelan drug gangs” believable

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago

not only that, but can you think of a less effective or scalable way to smuggle a commodity into a country?

Fine Caribbean rum such as Diplomatico.

the world can't improve until all western media editors and owners are thrown into a pit and left to crush each other in their wailing agony

This shithole literally allowed Ghislane Maxwell to become a moderator there again after she was transferred to a low security prison so I could not give less of a fuck about what the people who congregate there think about me they're too far gone. Wall. Also not surprised at all the casual racism over there.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

that really put some perspective on all the times I would get an account banned there for 'civility'

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah. Calling out racism and western-centrism gets you in hot water but allowing Ghislane Maxwell to be a mod is fine and dandy. Bunch of sick fucks.

we should really quit browsing reddit at all

worldnews is a subreddit that got gradually got botted to shit over the past decade. You can look at posts there from 10+ years ago and the difference is stark

Edit: here I found an even better example this is a post from during the 2014 Gaza conflict and it’s a perfect example of how the subreddit today is completely different link

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 13 points 3 weeks ago

The biggest change to worldnews and /r/politics wasn't when they started astro turfing with bots but when they started shadow deleting content based on phrases (while claiming it was to combat bots, something that none of their policies has ever had an effect on ever)

The USSR was so apocalyptic it… built a smaller and less precise arsenal to ward off the only country to ever use nuclear weapons, and which had a larger and more precise arsenal that entire time.

Who would've guessed the Venezuelan "refugees" fleeing the evils of equality and solidarity would be violent cynical exploiters

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 22 points 3 weeks ago

Reddit is like poison. I go there sometimes, but I have to keep to the leftist and cute animal subs and even then you get some vile takes (and AI, lots of AI)

grillman: “I don’t trust the government…except when the government says corporate elite good! That’s infallible! Didn’t you learn that communists are bad in middle school?”
