I don't know if it's common among the tlingit (I assume it is based on its use here, but I can't be sure) but amongst a lot of native american groups hides are a traditional medium for art.

truly impressive intentional point missing

Drawing attention to the material basis of how things are produced is point missing? I thought it was a core tenet of Marxism.

when the actual point is that britain should be burned down to the ground and they've instead criticized art forms of colonized indigenous people, yeah that's missing the point. it reads like a parody of western leftism tbh

Nice to know that anti-veganism is alive and well on Hexbear

im not interested in having this pointless, disingenuous discussion. have a good rest of your day

[–] booty@hexbear.net 7 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

yea It really is discouraging how many people here would absolutely have been against abolition of slavery back in the day

[–] Aradino@hexbear.net 6 points 4 weeks ago

100%

And they react to this with the most disingenuous shit when called out on it. Honestly hurts my heart

[–] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

if that's anti-veganism, than your comment is anti-indigenous. Two can tango at this game compadre

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't really care what you call it because I've endured way too many examples of carnists trying to make veganism "problematic" to assume any amount of good faith.

If you aren't operating in good faith with your comrades on this site you are in violation of the rules and spirit of the community are you not?

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Correct, but carnists constantly make bad faith attacks against us nonetheless.

Not sure why you think you have any business lecturing me about "the rules and spirit of the community" you joined less than a day ago.

Mods, like all users, need to follow the code of conduct, this has nothing to do with me but with you. Mods in fact need to be held to a higher standard than the user base overall. These types of disingenuous and bad faith accusations against indigenous art reflect poorly on not only you but this site

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

I'm not going to bother engaging with your vague, spurious accusations. Find someone else's time to waste.

Accusations? I merely pointed to your own comment that you are assuming bad faith and how that contradicts with the site code of conduct and your role. You yourself admitted to engaging in bad faith and making assumptions immediately instead of engaging

Which point do you think I missed in asking what a dead deer did to deserve having a British museum painted on it?

The point that you missed is that a deer shouldn't catch strays. Paint this on a British persons hide.

It's been a while since we've had this struggle session

[–] Aradino@hexbear.net 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Maybe in another thread. Probably won't kick off in here. Too small

[–] MemesAreTheory@hexbear.net 6 points 4 weeks ago

We're bored with it. Gotta get something sexy and new.

He'll be sipping a mai tai on the beach with a skin graft in the mid credits scene

I hate being a so-true "makes me think of video game" guy, but I hope that Relooted game where you reclaim African artifacts from the British Museum ends up being good/cool

I didn't know this was a thing but now I want a bonus mission where you return the giant obelisk in front of the Vatican. Styled like splinter cell or sly cooper please.
