They really have lost the plot, they seem to have forgotten that you actually need to do something to be considered a leader worthy of getting busts made of you.

I wonder if there was a trend of the later Roman emperors to make lavish statues of themselves to try and emulate the more successful emperors without them actually doing anything to earn that acclaim? thinking-about-it

There was a trend of later Roman emperors getting mercd within a month or two. Let's get to that phase first before we find out about busts.

The fact that she has to assert this at all shows that she is only a historic figure by technicality. The main thing she actually did that she will be remembered for is lose.

Do you remember Thomas Dewey? Governor of New York, Republican presidential candidate in 1944 and 1948? Or Adlai Stevenson, who was the Democrats’ fall guy to tank the guaranteed losses to Eisenhower. Or most candidates that lost an election more than 50 years ago that didn’t go on to cement their role in history somehow, like Nixon, for example. Kamala won’t be remembered as a loser, she won’t be remembered at all.

Edit: I just reread my comment, it comes off as much more aggressive than I intended it to (which is not at all). Apologies for that.

I remember Dan Quayle. The Man, The Myth, The Potatoe. Harris should probably do something very publicly embarrassing if she wants to be remembered as VP.

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think she will be remembered as a loser specifically because she was vice president first. We don't remember most vice presidents either but the combination of vice presidency into eating shit vs trump I think will cement her as one of the great pathetic figures of American history

Performing so poorly in polls that she was going to lose California to every other primary candidate first, then being picked for VP because she posed no threat to Biden politically, then being chosen by Biden to replace him in the race as a final "fuck you" to the Clinton and Obama camps in the DNC, and then losing the race. She's really a one of a kind loser.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

My favorite part was how Biden's team had no opposition research about her because they hadn't done any research on her during the primary and she still lost lmaoooo

Yes. He was also the Mayor of Beach City until his defeat by Nanefua Pizza, after his shameful mishandling of the Diamond kidnapping incidents.

Nah I appreciate how savage it was. Reading what you said I have to agree

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

The main thing she actually did that she will be remembered for is lose.

Not just lose, but lose the easiest election in history

[–] TerminalEncounter@hexbear.net 32 points 4 days ago

No surprise, thats the kind of egoism required to run for president

I always feel a sort of second hand embarrassment when I encounter people that feel the need to rhetorically puff out their chests. Every now and then you run into them in conversation and they really feel the need to desperately sell themselves to you.

All I can ever do in those situations is smile and nod and just politely keep my thought about their chest puffing to myself because it's mean and rude.

Anyway that's what Kamala makes me feel like 95% of the times she speaks.

Marble bust of girboss busting her ass to defend Zionazis comitting genocide. part-of-history

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 4 days ago

"A historic figure" who if there is any justice if remembered at all will be remembered for her support of genocide and the prison system.

[–] mickey@hexbear.net 22 points 4 days ago

A marble what? volcel-kamala

That is a useful quote, to put in the face of every bluemaga absolving her of genocide and other crimes of Biden government because VP is just a smol pebble that is responsible for nothing, while she herself is bragging how important and influental she was.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 18 points 4 days ago

They can put it in the Dan Quayle wing

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 18 points 4 days ago

A historic figure, one might even say light itself

[–] CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

One day the marble busts of American politicians will be sitting in museums across the world for their fallen civilizations exhibits

But is she light itself

[–] mrfugu@hexbear.net 5 points 3 days ago

I mean she’s not wrong. Her visage will be used for the sake of liberal identity politics for decades to come.
