Unfortunately the internet has also changed a lot since then.

Even on just my personal site, with no real content and which no real person visits (besides people looking at my CV), I still get about 2k hits per day. When I had cloudflare in front they told me it was mostly llm scrapers, not sure how reliable that is though.

I don't know how you host your website, but checking my reverse proxy logs I can see the user agents and indeed most of them are from llms

The amount of DDoS attacks today is 100x bigger than 10 years ago and much harder to block. With AI now you also have wves and waves of bots to fight against. Not saying CF is the only solution, but fighting this is at least a full team job, but likely the work for a small team. That's why most companies outsource it to CF.

Thanks for sharing.

They seem to offer DNS, CDN, WASM compute (like aws lambda I'm guessing?), proxying with bot and ddos detection.

I do not see a tunneling product.

I just use IONOS, where I also have my domains.
