It seems cloudflare has gone down and brought down half the internet, including half the fediverse. Lucky for us, the divisions by zero, is not hosted in cloudflare for that reason. Unlucky for the flotilla, the anarchist.nexus is on CF.

Nevertheless, switch over to your /0 account to continue using the threadiverse as usual.

shakes first Tenchikeeeeeeeen!

Just as I started using anarchist.nexus as my main instance.

My first, and now second post here :-) Just moved from world.

Hey, nice to see you found a new place!

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 months ago

Thanks!

Slowly but surely...

Good news: DB0 is up and .world is down.

Bad news: hexbear is still up because they made sure to supply the hamsters that power their servers with plenty of alfa alfa and sunflower seed bribes so they don't chew through the underwater server cables again

I just tried to check Pixelfed.social. It's down. I'm able to post this from Fedia.io. Yay!

Update, new message: Service Unavailable

Our service is in maintenance mode, please try again later.

Isn't that ironic, don't you think!

Flashback to my 1996.

Fediverse functioning as intended here. High-availability service outages can only slightly hamper Lemmy/Mastodon as a whole.

Of course, the picture changes slightly when you zoom in to a per-instance level, but I'm okay with it. I'm not that terminally online.

The meme image is sending me so I sent it to all my friends. Juuuust in case. Dunno if they'll get it since some of them are behind CF.

Anyway, enjoy!

So grateful that db0 is still up in spite of this! Same reason I'm not yet using cloudflare tunnels for my homelab. Third cloudflare issue this year lmao

[–] asudox@lemmy.asudox.dev 5 points 4 months ago

Still here.

[–] i_dont_want_to@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 4 months ago

Hello, blue Will Ferrel. I'm still here!

[–] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Oh. I was hearing complaints from friends and not seeing shit. I was wondering why

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 months ago

Yeah goddamnit, our downtimes are fully organic!

I mean, decentralisation doesn't prevent DDoS attacks.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 4 months ago

Prevent, no. Lessen their impact, yes.

Was it as ddos attack? This happened during a planned maintainance window so my immediate suspicion was that they must have screwed something up, maybe deployed a bad config for buggy software.

I’m using cloudflare as my DNS but haven’t noticed any outages for my services. The only reason I use cf is because it has a ddns tool to automatically update the ip when it changes

E: does anyone know of something similar I could use with another DNS?

E2: I found a tool to do the same thing with spaceship dns, which is my domains registrar. “spaceship-dns-updater”

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 months ago

If you're not using its proxy service you wouldn't notice any issues
