Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I think Royalty and the Nobility should go back to the old ways - combat. Not the nations and countries militaries mind you, just Royalty and the nobility, battling it out against other Royal Families with sword, spear, shot, pike and bow.

A pay per view competition, globally for all Royal Families for the naming rights, the championship cup and a small percentage of the PPV fees and all the glory you can eat for the victors and a grizzly death for everyone else. The return of the warrior king.

Don't do jack shit on my behalf please, especially honouring this irrelevence.

Already done

Sometimes I look at rich and influential people, and literally splooge myself over their inherent greatness.

Look at the sword. Look at that ring. Look at those ears. Not only a face a mother could love, but a whole adoring nation, ready to get down on our knees, unzip those royal garters and just go to town on that royal member.

The weight of responsibility, balanced with a diplomat's wit, grounded by the sheer heft of the royal johnson keeping him firmly tethered to the plight of the working class.

That scrumptuous smile, so coy and yet so understanding, why if he were a duck I would eat him raw

Somebody, give this man a knighthood!

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I've already bent the knee and received my royal liquid prize, I am not so greedy to demand more

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 3 points 11 hours ago

Went from manhood to knighthood

Fuck the monarchy. Fuck this snivelling pathetic show of fealty to someone who doesn't know nor care about your existence. Fuck saying this is on behalf of everyone at Feddit.UK.

If he wanted me to celebrate, he’d have made the day a public holiday.

Exactly why is he wearing war medals?

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 2 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

They aren't war medals- medals can be given out for different reasons. He did serve in the Navy and the Air Force, though.

I looked it up, they are:

  • Queen’s Service Order (New Zealand)
  • Coronation Medal
  • Silver Jubilee Medal
  • Golden Jubilee Medal
  • Diamond Jubilee Medal
  • Platinum Jubilee Medal
  • Naval Long Service Good Conduct (LSGC) (three additional service bars)
  • Canadian Forces Decoration (three additional service bars)
  • The New Zealand Commemorative Medal
  • New Zealand Armed Forces Award
  • Garter Star

So none of them are war medals

Is the "Queen's service order" (presumably from his mam) basically just like when my mum gave me a sticker for helping do the washing up?

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

It is used to recognise "valuable voluntary service to the community or meritorious and faithful services to the Crown or similar services within the public sector, whether in elected or appointed office". Considering as prince of Wales he was patron of many charities and even started his own affordable housing project in the UK, I'm sure it's for something more than that

Yeah, I was just having a little joke - I actually have quite a lot of respect for his various environmental/social/other projects... but it's still quite funny to get a medal from your mum :)

I'll celebrate when he's dead.
