1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

Video shows Rafael Veraza holding his face after he and his family were allegedly sprayed through open car window

An Illinois man said his US citizen family – including his one-year-old daughter – were pepper-sprayed in their car by federal immigration agents during a shopping trip in a Chicago suburb.

Video of the encounter outside a Sam’s Club in Cicero shows Rafael Veraza clutching at his face after he was allegedly sprayed through his open window by a cloudy substance fired by a masked agent from a pick-up truck traveling in the opposite direction.

Veraza, 25, told reporters his wife told him to stop their car because she, their daughter, and sister were also hit. The images show the aftermath of the episode with the girl in distress in her mother’s arms with her eyes streaming.

“My daughter was trying to open her eyes. She was struggling to breathe,” Veraza told reporters at a press conference Sunday, a day after an operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the store.

Obligatory "Fuck ICE" naturally, but this one is particularly jarring. For 3 reasons-

A) "from a pick-up truck travelling in the opposite direction". What. Tha. Fuck. They are drive-by pepper spraying brown people without pulling them over?

B) Goes without saying at this point, but everyone in that vehicle was a US citizen.

C) DHS straight up lied, denied that anything happened in that parking lot, at all. When it comes to ICE misconduct, the Federal government's official stance is "pics or it didn't happen". Which is a good reminder for everyone to film these animals constantly.

I want to ask, "When will this insanity end?" But of course I know the answer. When the American people make it end and not before.

It should go without saying but their citizenship should have no bearing on their treatment. If they were undocumented, this behaviour would still not be justified.

People without legal status in ones nation state are not less worthy of human rights.

Of course I agree with you completely, it just further illustrates ICEs intellectual dishonesty.

Which agent did it?

Oh you didn't see their face? Sorry! Can't find him.

Video

Was straight up a drive by. Doesn't matter what your immigration status is wildly stupidly outrageously dangerous to blind drivers.

Some of those people are just absolutely horrible, how can they have that much hate against people, just because of skin colour?

Curiosity got the better of me. I regret my hubris.

If the one year old didn't want to be pepper sprayed they shouldn't have broken the law. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. /s

Where is the video on this article? I can’t tell what video they are referring to, but the article keeps referring to video taken after the incident.

There was a video posted yesterday that clearly showed a black truck passing and spraying orange fluid into their window.

Edit: Had to go find it.

I've seen the video. A masked person driving the opposite direction sprayed into this person's vehicle.

The only alleged item in this is what was sprayed.

It doesn't matter the reason. If this person was ICE, he should be held accountable for multiple counts of assault and making an attempt on others' lives. If the driver would have crashed and killed someone else, it would have been the fault of ICE agents.
