At least Americans now know who's the controled opposition.
If they didn't already know and internalize it after Obama, they will certainly forget by 2026.
Maybe that was the plan. Get a bunch of pissed off voters to elect dems in various places, then wait a couple days to “fuck over” everyone after the seats had been won and vote for the republican legislation.
Don't forget to write in "Guillotine" in 2026!
Perhaps the time has come for adventurism.
In this current political climate, we have MAGA and Republican popularity tanking and then for some reason, these bumfuck Dems are diving on that grenade for them.
MAYBE if YOU weren't so Selfish you would Realize that RICH People were starting to be Effected so they HAD to Pass this and Reopen the Government!
This is exactly why they caved.
Democrats are primarily backed by big money donors. Their constituents are billionaires too, just a different set of billionaires than Republicans’ constituents.
There isn’t a party that represents the people, just two different factions of billionaires who are fighting over their share of control over the government.
I weep every night for those poor billionaires. Those corpos and their immense struggle. But as a lowly poor I could never understand the depth and wrought of their suffering.
I am willing to bet this was on some level retaliatory for Mamdani's election. All these senators represent a faction that's currently sundowning. For them, this kind of action is a message.
That would make no sense. That would make this random lashing out just to hurt people. That's a MAGA thing.
It is pretty clear that they are aware of how unpopular this decision will be: it's the exact number of senators needed to pass it, and I believe they're all people who have announced that they will retire after this term.
Clearly nobody who wants to be re-elected wanted to be part of this. That still leaves the question of why? Even if you accept that you're out of politics after this, why would you tarnish your name like that? What other benefit do they get out of this? What favors are being pulled behind the scenes here?
the question of why?
It protects their investments for them and their families. Political tidal shifts on corporate ownership of critical infrastructure like housing is unacceptable for their economy. And their electability?
they're all people who have announced that they will retire after this term.
They are expressly the ones that can afford this action: explicitly burning goodwill to secure wealth. They're spending currency that has no value to them.
It doesn't even have to be backdoor dealings. It is all very front door.
Honestly, I had a similar feeling to that, too. That people were becoming too left for them.
And now I will spend hours of my time making sure every single Democrat in every single election is as far left as I can make them. I am going to show up and fucking berate the shit out of every centrist Dem I see. I want them to dread seeing my fucking face. I am absolutely pissed.
That's a MAGA thing
I know it's an increasingly unpopular take and
Not at all.
Dear democratic party: as a voter in a state that went from purple to more red, I was still voting for you in every election and outside of the blue cities. Was. I would rather vote for a pile of dogshit than your party again.
Vote for a progressive who attacks this kind of betrayal. They exist, and they need to take over the Democratic Party.
Let this betrayal fuel that final push.
Or run as that progressive politician…
MAGA: We've got historical disapproval numbers, people are fleeing our party, we just faced a Blue tsunami the likes of which haven't been seen in a generation, and we're in the midst of a crisis with no end in sight for which the majority of Americans blame us for.
Senate Dems: Hold my beer.
Once again demonstrating a remarkable facility for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It sounds like several of those who caved are resigning at the next election, so it really looks like they just decided to screw everyone over on the way out.
You know they were promised all kinds of backdoor shit.
The US really needs to tackle political corruption some day. And these people need to be investigated too.
This was organized, the rest of the party is in agreement; these ones were just the ones to fall on the sword because they're the ones who can't be punished
It's a good thing they're all retiring because they're a bunch of insanely naive pathetic cowards... Oh boy oh boy you "secured" a vote where Republicans will just repeat their "no, fuck your healthcare" but in the form of a vote.
Bravo.
They're not all retiring, the ones who aren't just aren't up for re-election next year, giving plenty of time for people to forget about it.
Almost like Schumer planned it that way
I despise the corporate Dems almost as much as MAGA. They are spineless cowards who would be more than happy to fall in line if it was their side that had a version of Trump.
Your "left wing" democrats are further right wing than our mainstream conservative party coalition. (The Liberals, and probably the Nationals too, to be honest)
And that's with an extremely right-wing owned press (Murdoch & Nine Fairfax, Australia).
Let that sink in.
And please, for the love of God, actually riot. I don't enjoy the notion of being under the thumb of the US with the fuckwits at the helm.
It was bad enough with vaugely competent imperialists in charge.
The No Kings marches are piss-weak given people are ALREADY DYING and more will die because of the Dems capitulation.
I'm not a revolutionary, but I damned well would be in your country.
Seriously, and kind regards from the provinces.
Reminder that Jeanne Shaheen’s own daughter is running for house and herself has stated that she would have voted against it. Shaheen has fucked Democrats in New Hampshire up for a generation. Hassan isn’t running for re-election in ‘28, which explains her vote.
And NH has a Q infestation of scammer grifter libertarians (I mean the ones in NH are especially scammy and grifty)
NH needs some good role models
Catherine Cortez Masto — Nevada
Dick Durbin — Illinois
John Fetterman — Pennsylvania
Maggie Hassan — New Hampshire
Tim Kaine — Virginia
Angus King — Maine
Jacky Rosen — Nevada
Jeanne Shaheen — New Hampshire
Technically seven Democrats and one Independent, since Angus King is among those who caved
Maine residents. I am begging you to do everything in your power not to elect King's son. Allegedly his son is why he broke ranks.
Double whammy for NH. "Live free or die?" LOL.
They chose die. As in, "our constituents will just have to die"

PRIMARY EVERY DEMOCRAT NOT NAMED BERNIE OR AOC!!!!
