Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

If ONLY there was SOMETHING the Republicans controlling the House Senate Presidency and Courts could DO!

[–] Sibshops@lemmy.myserv.one 75 points 1 week ago (3 children)

"We tried nothing and it isn't working." - Republicans

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago

You kidding me? They have been loudly blaming the party in the minority for not just capitulating with the pinky swear that the GOP would totes negotiate their terms later.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago

"Let's try another 6 week paid vacation. All because of the Democrats, smh" - Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, supposedly.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Sounds like the voting strategy that got us here. No wonder they think it'll work.

[–] LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They are already giving ALL their thoughts and prayers, what more do you want????!!!

[–] LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 week ago

Can you imagine being that cruel? I certainly can’t.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

And somehow that's the democrats fault

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 62 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Called my senators yesterday. Told the R we were hurting and they needed to give in to the Democrats. Told the D I knew they were under pressure but we needed them to stand up for Medicaid, food stamps, ACA funds, etc.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago

Did you tell them Trump should be arrested?

[–] Wiz@midwest.social 58 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"We will keep hurting people until you submit" is the language of rapists and abusers.

Is it either people who are too dumb to hide the complete dominance of their overlords, or people who are aware that there is no need to hide anything because the game is completely and irreversibly over? Do I get two guesses? If I only get one then I'll play it safe and say rapists.

Also, JD sits on a 7 year old kid, moving his arm and shouting "stop hitting yourself"

[–] vegeta@lemmy.world 35 points 1 week ago

Moooah conthequenthis

[–] JamBandFan1996@lemmy.ml 25 points 1 week ago

Well then maybe your party should do something about it you moron

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 25 points 1 week ago

JD is volunteering to experience all of these consequences for us? What a guy!

[–] superglue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 1 week ago

Enjoy getting massacred in the midterms moron

[–] youngGoku@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 week ago

“Consequences” sure sounds like the results one faces at the receiving end of extortion.

If only we had a system of rules that dictates whether or not someone should be allowed to do this…

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

Vote for Republicans, get "consequences". Is "JD" "Vance" just saying FA, FO?

It's too bad even those that cannot vote and didn't vote for these assholes have to go through this, too.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They want to starve people. Just like the IDF in Gaza.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca -4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The war's over, maybe you should find a new hobby LOL.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And still people are starving in Gaza.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca -2 points 1 week ago

Just as many people died in Sudan in the last two weeks as died in Gaza in the last two years.

How long will you be angry over things in the past while being deliberately ignorant of atrocities that are happening right now?

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Voss continued: "What we ought to be watching is whether the Administration is trying to build up the sense of crisis to a fever pitch, as a prelude to Republicans ending the Senate filibuster. The public tends to dislike the filibuster rule, because it prevents majorities from getting their way quickly, but it's one of the only remaining features of the American government that requires the parties to cooperate, which is something the public also claims to want. If Senate rules change so that the majority party can start passing legislation without compromise, that will have a lot more impact on American public policy than anything being debated right now."

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They would never dream of killing the filibuster unless they knew for sure that nobody but the GOP will ever have a majority ever again.

[–] balance8873@lemmy.myserv.one 3 points 1 week ago

Republicans have consistently decreased the power of the filibuster when they are in office. It's just a matter of time.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Would be a fun time line if Elon wrote a $200 check for everyone as a f u to his ex bff.

[–] Itdidnttrickledown@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They were always nothing more than asshole buddies. Asshole buddies are always trying to destroy one another.

[–] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

ASS TO ASS!!!

[–] syreus@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

The entire spat between them was kayfabe. They were hurting each other's image by being next to each other.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Nah, since EriKa KirK got upholstered, your couches are safe.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is it a warning or a threat?

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 week ago

It’s extortion.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Lol sounds like a threat? Odd.

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

The filibuster disproportionately benefits the GOP anyway. Their MO is status quo, prevent reform, do nothing, dismantle. They will always use it more. It's why we have no public option for Medicare. And it's been used excessively since Obama.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 week ago

Seen here, describing attributes of his favorite couch cushion.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago

This is just terrorists

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

The idea that consequences would be "coming soon" instead of seeing that the shutdown is already affecting people since day one just shows how disconnected the couch fucker (and the whole rightwinger mafia he is part of) is from reality.
