Big meaty Proletariat Batman

In this issue he beats off a bunch of white supremacists

Here is the link to the annual issue, its a standalone story so if you want you can start with it

The first story is written and drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson, he made a really good transformers comic here is a link to issue 1

In this issue he beats off a bunch of white supremacists

There has to be a better way to say this

[–] joaomarrom@hexbear.net 15 points 3 months ago

That's what I would expect from classic billionaire Bruce Wayne, not from working class Absolute Batman

Really feeling the "make fascists afraid again" vibe right now

It was fun to see all the chuds cry when DWJ posted the image of batman having an ice agent on a chokehold

This two are really good, also absolute superman is also pretty good in that one he is a hero for the oppressed

[–] Des@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

I love huge prole batman so much

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago (4 children)

WHY is he so fucking huge, like is it diagetic or just a stylistic choice, i'm not complaining just confused

[–] wolfinthewoods@hexbear.net 14 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

Dude, they state in one of the previous issues that he's 6'7" and 320+ pounds, it's insane. I like Absolute Batman, but in an ironic kind of sense. It's like a take on old '90s EXTREME comics, but it is so ridiculous it's good. Not my favorite of the line, but I enjoy it's outlandisheness.

[–] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago (2 children)

What's you favourite Absolute series? I just finished batman may go for Absolute Wonder Woman next

[–] Riffraffintheroom@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter have amazing art and are must reads IMO. Superman is just okay and I’m having to force myself through flash and green lantern.

[–] jack@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

I feel the same but I'm pretty positive on Superman. It's definitely a step below Bruce and Diana, but it's trying to take on much bigger subjects politically which I appreciate even if it doesn't always land.

[–] wolfinthewoods@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Wonder Woman is by far the best, closely followed by Martian Manhunter. Superman is a great read and I only put it third because Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter are so damn good.

[–] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago

Nice yeah I've just dled WW

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Ya, I've seen worse.

The time that the old Batman spent learning every martial art known to man, new Batman has spent bulking.

[–] jack@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago

This is actually a great explanation. No less dedication, but far fewer resources.

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 12 points 3 months ago

He is canonically a big boy since issue 1

[–] jack@hexbear.net 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Everyone is constantly referring to him as huge so it's definitely diagetic, but it's stylistically exaggerated at moments of high tension and action

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

that explains a lot actually, yeah he definitely looks more like just a big guy in the non-action scenes now that I've read some, it's just in the thread image he looks like fuckin' dr mundo

[–] fannin@hexbear.net 12 points 3 months ago

Beats off you say? volcel-judge

Fuckin Kenny Omega marks...

(I was there when Will Ospreay hit the 1WA on Kenny. My soul left my body and I found Christ in a 1-count.)

[–] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

Bat types, if'n I were wanting to read a ton of Batman, where should I start?

[–] LisaTrevor@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

could easily start with Absolute Batman since it's an alternate universe. it's a different take on the character though, different origin story

if you want the classic Batman, I'd still start with Frank Miller's Year One

[–] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 6 points 3 months ago

Thank you! Year one sounds like a good place to start!

The man is built like a brick shitmansion, without a Venom infusion. He'd eat that bat like a two-bite cupcake. Shit, he could probably catch a bullet in his teeth and send it back with as much force.

There comes a point, even in comics, where you have to ask "Why are they trying?"
