Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

So their argument is that because Joy Division's name is a reference to a specific group of victims of the Holocaust, wearing the second most well-known band shirt of all time is antisemitic? The band's name references a horrible thing so you endorse it if you wear it on a shirt? Are aussies ok?

It's funny because I have this stereotype of aussies as, generally, being a bit edgier or just not as concerned with politeness in public speech.

Oh and also Australians are pearl clutchy as fuck, just not toward swearing as much.

The vast majority of people also think this is really silly. The Liberal National Coalition (previously fairly successful) is exploding and might lead to a split, and their popularity is in the shitter.

At least I think so, but I don't interact with Sky News viewers, which is where she parroted it from

Ever wonder why she uses the letter S three times to spell her name... She is potentially the most unpopular, unelectable Liberal leader in recent history, and the last two were nicknamed Voldemort and Scummo. She is just making noises so people don't forget she exists, if we didn't have the media ownership class that we do she would be effectively invisible.

I do love when I talk to my neighbour about what Sky News assures him the Labor government is doing and it's all imaginary shit, the most recent was an empty bed tax, a move that was proposed by an industry think tank to increase turn over of high value properties. The think tank in question just so happens to be backed by... The real estate industry. But Sky News and Facebook told him that it was on the Labor agenda so thats just a fact as far as he is concerned and his vote counts for as much as mine does...

That being said Australians do have a mile wide conservative streak I'm sure it's the former British colony in us.

Acknowledging that the Nazis victimized anyone besides Jewish people is antisemitic actually

[–] Pentacat@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

This is a fact. Special, chosen people suffer if they’re made to feel less special in any way.

second most well-known band shirt of all time

what's the number 1 most well known?

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. I guess there's probably also some Beatles shirts or whatever.

That's a band? I thought it was just a shirt.

Hate to break it to you, but since Roger Waters is BDS, that means the 2 most popular band t-shirts in history are both anti-semitic

[–] Huldra@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

I always saw that as more of a famous poster than a famous shirt in particular.

[–] kickit@hexbear.net 21 points 2 weeks ago

it's a good thing the phrase "New Order" has no possible secondary connotations

[–] Huldra@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago

Kind of ridiculous to call it antisemitic when it is in reference to a horrific crime of misogyny specifically.

[–] Tiocfaidhcaisarla@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's very off-putting seeing a politician in that shirt, but not for these reasons

[–] Aradino@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago

I'm sure it'll off-put you more to know that multiple people cite this as dad energy

[–] musicpostingonly@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

Shadow Housing Minister Andrew Bragg also backed Ms Ley, saying Mr Albanese had done the "wrong thing" by the Jewish Australian community in wearing the T-shirt.

[–] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

He should start wearing Death In June shirts instead

[–] Aradino@hexbear.net 10 points 2 weeks ago

My suggestion would be Machine Gun Fellatio

Finding out that dudes deal was such a bummer
