Why is a president who pledged to put “America first” handing a $40 billion bailout to Argentina while quadrupling Argentine beef imports to undercut the price of beef produced by U.S. ranchers at the same time his tariffs have destroyed U.S. soybean sales to China, thereby enabling Argentine soybean farmers to sell to China instead?

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has absolutely no clue.

The Georgia Republican continued her surprising tour of pushback against Republican nonsense with an appearance on The Tucker Carlson Show Wednesday, where she called the bailout “one of the grossest things I’ve ever seen.”

Alternate realities are converging. The timeline has been corrupted.

[–] Red_October@piefed.world 77 points 2 days ago (5 children)

I'm pretty sure the whole timeline is on the verge of total collapse. We're all gonna wake up and it'll be December 31, 1999, and we'll have to try again.

[–] Exeous@lemmy.world 45 points 2 days ago

Wish please yes

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I would sign up for that event.

[–] NoSpotOfGround@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Sorry, there were limited places available, you're not on the list. Better luck next universe.

EDIT: listen people, please stop writing us. If you have to ask whether you're on the list, you're not on it.

[–] wavebeam@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Just the idea of that is making me hopeful somehow. Do I get to keep my consciousness from this run like in the book Replay?

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Maybe we’ll do better this time? Who am I kidding, somebody warm up the freedom fries

[–] grimpy@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 2 days ago

2 X (Y2K) = ?

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 41 points 2 days ago (1 children)

She was promised something and was personally grifted. It's the only explanation.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Keep in mind she wasn't in the inside of politics until the Biden term. It could be that she was a true believer in the talking points that everything wrong was the Democrats fault and that maga would "drain the swamp" if they just had a chance. His first term the kept claiming deep state and dem inference. Now she can't help but to see how it is and his second term is so much more openly corrupt.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

It's this. She was a true believer, and now she's discovering reality.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Basically the plot of peacemaker season 2

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 74 points 2 days ago

I'm happy to see this brought up by a sitting R on a right-wing talk show.

Yeah, she's gross, too. Yeah, someone wrote this for her, because she's not smart enough to put this all together herself. But, she's saying it and at least a few MAGA are hearing it. I give her credit for that.

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 53 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Why is the crazy Jewish space laser lady making sense right now? Is reality breaking down?

[–] FearfulSalad@ttrpg.network 44 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

She has a very specific ideology, and the bailout disagrees with it. She's an awful human being and I hate all the things she says and does, but at least she's somewhat consistent about her stance?

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 40 points 2 days ago (4 children)

The upsetting side of this is that it means MTG actually believes in things beyond her own self enrichment, which is a good quality, and means I have to begrudgingly give her a modicum of respect for it because it makes her vastly more human than most of the rest of the ghouls in the GOP/MAGA

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

I would recommend giving her credit for a few good talking points. Hold off on the respect, though. I doubt she's come that far.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

To keep in mind that another true believer is RFK Jr. While a true believer in some ways can be less vile, they still can be even more dangerous than the ones running a con.

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

A conman is a better conman when they believe their own schtick.

[–] PhilipTheBucket@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

I think it is far more likely that Trump has been pissing off Russia, and that's why all his puppets in congress have all of a sudden started talking about what a bad idea Trump is, and the Epstein files. She doesn't give a shit about things as far as I can tell.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

believes in things beyond her own self enrichment

I'm not convinced. If her kids weren't facing higher health care costs she probably wouldn't care about it. Republicans have time and again shown that they're incapable of supporting issues that don't directly affect them. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a farmer that she knows personally who's been affected by diarrhea don's policies.

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

She's getting her news from a real news source and reality, not just fox news and right wing propoganda is my guess.

[–] chillpanzee@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

She's an attention wh*re starved for relevance.

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (7 children)

Whore, you can say whore. Your mommy isn't going to come out of the shadows and discipline you.

[–] chillpanzee@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

.ml censors it and just shows the word "removed." So it's not my mommy, it's my server.

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Get a new server brother.

[–] PrettyFlyForAFatGuy@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago

Move off of .ml. it's got to be a rite of passage for new lemmy users these days

Doesn't matter.

She's been 100% on his side leading up to the collapse of US democracy and the genocide of minorities on US soil.

Yet another passionate Nazi that only started being critical of Hitler when they finally got what Hitler promised them to their faces but somehow it wasn't what they expected.

She's still 99% gargling his balls

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 26 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has absolutely no clue.

She hasn't had a clue about anything for many years.

She might be one of the grossest things I've seen myself.

[–] ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com 23 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Don't you dare make me agree with MTG...

[–] Sabin10@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Well you don't have to but then you are agreeing with Trump. Everything is weird.

[–] ImWaitingForRetcons@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

... I never thought I’d see a day where I agree with MTG on so many things…

[–] HeadfullofSoup@kbin.earth 15 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Is Argentina not full of escaped nazi decendant? Maybe trump want access to all the nazi memorabilia for his new peod dungeon/ballroom

[–] noodles@slrpnk.net 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This is my theory, less that he wants access to memorabilia and more he heard that Nazis fled there and survived and he's hedging his backup plan

I'm here for the redemption arc tbh

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago

Yeah, but no

Nice to see she is seeing a little bit of light, yay, but she and her cronies are in large part the reason why we're here in the first place.

Unless she rids the world of the trump family, single handedly restores democracy to the USA to the point that it'll be an actual democracy (was it ever even a democracy?) she will always be a horrible monster

[–] edible_funk@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

The J6 pipe bomber cannot be redeemed, but I hope the infighting takes a lot of them down.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 days ago

So a broken clock can be correct more than twice a day?

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago

Oh I guarantee you some of that bail out money is ending up in Trump's pockets.

[–] etherphon@midwest.social 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

What the hell is up with this lady, does she have some kind of Groundhog's Day situation going on or what? It's like she wakes up and flips a coin on who she wants to be.
