the empire in its prime didn't defeat cuba, how could they beat it now?
No see, what he meant was, once they lose to Venezuela, they will then go lose to Cuba.
To be fair, the US forces put into Bay of Pigs was tiny and far from full scale commitment. That said, attacking Cuba now in the age of drone warfare could open a massive can of worms for the US if Cuba becomes a Yemen and plucks at US commercial ships, oil rigs and coastal assets in the gulf.
Not to forget that the implicit threat with further military shit into Cuba was the USSR firing a nuke at the US.
Thats not to say that modern Cuba stands alone, I can see countries like Angola and modern day Russia/China providing direct military aid as well as alligned southern and central american countries if it ever escelated this far.
Inshallah in 3 years time they will be making the same regime change proclamations to Maduro and Cuba will never be next

A large urban centre for unrest. Mountains for resistance to hide in. Then the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, Puerto Rico etc nearby for rebels to foment unrest. The Virgin Islands, Miamia and Mexico to carry out assassinations and terrorist attacks against Americans.

I don't think the US has the power to defeat the Cuban army or even occupy it for a short period. Also, you are not factoring global condemnation, the current military cooperation with Russia and isolation that the US will experience.

Sure. I don't necessarily disagree. Consider my comment the best possible case for the USA.
Cuba's proximity to the USA gives them advantages they don't have for other conflicts. We don't know push comes to shove if Russia backs them and international condemnation has done nothing in recent years.
Whatever happens they're still fucked.
And obviously Cuba has been planning for invasion for more than half a century. They definitely have plans, caches, sleeper agents, stay behinds etc.
The proximity was an advantage for the US even in the past century and they still got their teeth kicked in during the Bay of Pigs invasion 1961.
Right now, Cuba has two important allies in the region that have been strengthen thanks to China/Russia and one of them(Nicaragua) has experience helping yankee scum meet their maker. Nicaragua recently even improved their military cooperation with Cuba to show this off and Venezuela has this cooperation since 2015.
Regarding Russia, three months ago they floated the idea of sending Oreshnik missiles to Latin America and supporters of this will grow louder if the US keeps playing with fire. With the most recent military agreement, Russia has an excuse to intervene in favor of Cuba. Citing an article that talks about it:
Now, regarding global condemnation, to put this into context, Cuba has been very helpful to the world with their medical brigades and cooperation and this was evident during the Covid-19 pandemic. One example of this is Italy. People around the world are eternally in debt with Cuba. You can only wonder how much troops can solidarity organizations rally for this cause. These internationalist troops will not only come from Latin America but from Europe, Africa and even Asia. People around the world will not wait for the useless UN to assemble troops to help Cuba.
Cuba has been a beacon of light for many in the world to the point that people will do anything to help them. One example is Canada, Europe and Vietnam solidarity campaigns. This peaceful solidarity could easily turn into an armed one if the conditions appear.
We also have to factor in the US problem to source and refine rare earth materials and their deindustrialization to get a better picture of how weakened the US is. Including their expensive failure with the F-35 modernization and the run down conditions their military hardware is:
With all of this information, I can safely conclude that the US will face yet another defeat even worse than Bay of Pigs invasion if they ever tried again.
I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying on their best day it's a totally pyrrhic victory.

Is this what it felt like to live during the Cold War? Because it sucks.
Looking at this from the bright side, workers worldwide are in a better positions and are way more connected than before to fight back the fascists/imperialists.
Cultivating solidarity among the oppressed is what keeps the imperialist beast from enacting their worst blood thirsty fantasies. From my side, I can confidently say that Marco Rubio and their Miami Fascists will be defeated in Latin America but our western comrades have to defeat them at home with protests and agitation.
We will win.

There is no Soviet Union but there is solidarity from Russia, DPRK(rumored), China and Iran(check this post of mine from c/military).
Venezuela is not alone and this is not worse than before. I could actually say that we are entering in the best timeline possible because we are now stronger than before while the enemy grew arrogant and mediocre. As an example of their arrogance being trampled, the US has lost to Yemen recently and their hell spawn Israel was whacked by Iran. They have been exposed as not invincible and weak.

The war hawks and neocons obviously want to topple Cuba. But very little of what Michael Flynn says publicly should be taken seriously. He's made multiple comments recently that are factually inaccurate . His connection to the current administration is tenuous at best, and he seems to be using his credentials to stir the pot on social media or grift.
