I assumed that was just me - that I'd somehow done something wrong to offend them.

Fortunately, the one working in my surgery is the mam of someone who I went to school with.
I grew up in the sticks so she also knows my mam and gran, most of my immediate family pretty much
Where do you live that it is "mam"?
This community is called "Casual UK." That should help you decipher this riddle.
Give them the benefit of doubt man, they could be Southern and only used to 'mummy'
Did not check for that detail.

Wait until you meet school receptionists.
The one where i work is loveably grumpy. I used to be intimidated by her, but now we bond over our mutual grumpiness. Lol
The one at my local highshool sends a chill down my spine. She’s super nice to the kids though so whatever I guess lol.
Mine aren't too bad for the most part but theres a lot of 'computer says no'.
I'd also appreciate it if they didn't bullshit me about blood tests 'not being in yet' when I know the lab workflows and TATs. The GP not having filed the results yet is not the same as not having recieved the results from the lab...
Not sure I've ever been BSed about the results not being in. They always say the doctor hasn't got them yet, meaning "reviewed" them yet.
Every one I've met has been pretty friendly.
Is the receptionist Mrs Raven?
Wow. Yeah they're the same way across the pond.
It's wild to think about the intensity surgeons face daily. Imagine the pressure! Makes my palms sweat just picturing it. Kinda reminds me of the Snake Game, one wrong move and it's game over, but with much higher stakes. Surgical precision is key, unlike my frantic button mashing trying to beat my high score on that old Nokia.
