Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

Elon Musk has backed the deployment of federal troops to San Francisco, claiming in a gung-ho post that it is “the only solution” to the city’s drug problem.

Musk, who spearheaded mass layoffs through the so-called Department of Government Efficiency before he exited the White House in May, said downtown San Francisco is “a drug zombie apocalypse.”

His remarks follow his departure from the Trump administration following a public feud with Donald Trump and allegations that Musk himself was using drugs when he was funneling millions into the Republican’s 2024 presidential campaign. He denied the allegations and said they were “lies.”

Isn't he a big drug user? Does he really mean "war on poor people?"

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 80 points 3 weeks ago

That's pretty much what the "war on (some) drugs" always was. Well, that and anyone else they wanted to go after - gays, Blacks, liberals, etc...with things like the cocaine vs. crack treatment really highlighting the hypocrisy. Not to mention statements made by key people like Ehrlichman...

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 25 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

"The war on X" has always meant "The war on the new not rich."

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 8 points 3 weeks ago

I wish he would start the war on X: the world would be a better place.

Hell, he's already started the war on Tesla...

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago

We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news.

Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

~ John Ehrlichman, Assistant to the President for Domestic Affairs under President Richard Nixon

Guy on drugs wants war on drugs.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 3 weeks ago

Maybe he misunderstood the phrase. He wants a war while on drugs

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 59 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

JFC, what an asshole. This is the guy that uses ketamine, shrooms, ecstasy and who knows what else?

I love how the rules don't apply to any of these assholes, but the full force of the law should come down like a ton of bricks of anyone that's not at least a centimillionaire...

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I think you mean hecto millionaire. (Centi sounds wrong to me for 100 million, more like centimeter)

Is this moron still alive? We had been blessed with not hearing about him for some time.... I guess the ket is wearing off.

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 22 points 3 weeks ago

He was just lurking in the shadows practicing his Nazi salute in the bathroom. He never went away.

He must wear a lifejacket in the hot tub.

[–] MapleEngineer@lemmy.world 32 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

The war on drugs has gone so well so far.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 5 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I'm willing to believe that Elon Musk is addicted to snorting the ashes of homeless people.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 24 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Because DOGE was such a roaring success under his watch, I'm sure they're all still listening to him.

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 3 weeks ago

Bitch can end world hunger and US poverty over 3 times with his money but wants a military invasion and more federal funding for his own companies to get even richer.

Elon, you can go fuck yourself. It's the only way.

[–] whiwake@lemmy.cafe 19 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Please just kill him already

Is it just me or does he look like the Grinch plotting how to deport all the Whos from Whoville.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

He wants all the ketamine for himself. DOGE will confiscate it all and then mysteriously disappear from a storage warehouse.

San Francisco was fine until the tech bros came in and priced everyone out. Poverty creates mental illness and that fuels addiction. Might get better if these tech bros paid taxes at a 90% rate like they would have in the 1950’s and we used that to fund universal healthcare but they seem to be pushing for a genocide instead. Who would have guessed that giving hundreds of billions of dollars to racist/sexist apartheid South Africans would be bad for America? /s

Wait so billionaire piece of shit who is constantly tripping all day demands war on drugs… against the people who stopped buying his trash vehicles is somehow correct?

I guess the regime isn’t imprisoning enough minorities fast enough for his puppeteers.

Daily reminder:

During a news conference with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in March 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump said, "They rigged the election, and I became president."

[–] TheJesusaurus@sh.itjust.works 18 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

He's also not very good at cars

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago

He’s a nepo baby who’s good at failing upward, in a society that caters to such people

[–] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

Too cheap to put lidars and as a result people are dead.

[–] PissingIntoTheWind@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Just had dinner in North Beach. Out on the side walk. Had a lovely time as always. What the fuck are these people on? There are seedy streets in the city. Sure. But overall San Francisco is peaceful.
