adam savage would not be a bad orc name

[–] runner_g@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 months ago

Half Orc Artificer named Adam the Savage.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Orc tv? Maybe those Japanese obstacle course shows with people getting smashed and pummeled by various obstacles and opponents. Takeshi’s castle and the like.

[–] domdanial@reddthat.com 19 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Wipeout, MXC, American gladiator, ninja warrior. It's all like physical contest shows and MMA fights lol.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

There you go. That’s a better list.

This except people die, like all the time.

[–] Rozz@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 2 months ago

Real life squid games

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (3 children)

Ill pass on elf and gnome but probably bounce between the rest as the mood strikes

Tiefling TV: an equal split between violent Gothic dramas and talk shows bemoaning stereotypes

Goblin TV: think COPS, but entirely mob-justice based and as trashy as ever

[–] Dagnet@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

I'd say goblin TV would be mostly Jackass all day, with them trying the stunts themselves while watching

[–] dumples@midwest.social 2 points 2 months ago

Goblin TV: The trashiest reality TV and nature documentaries about slime molds, swamps and mushrooms

[–] Rooty@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I feel Jersey Shore would be big among Goblins.

[–] paultimate14@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago (4 children)

For some reason I expect Orcs to watch a lot of sports and physical game shows. Like the old Blood Bowl videogame- Orcs playing football or rugby just makes sense. I could also see them loving theatrical wrestling and stuff like American Gladiator and Ninja Warrior.

Dwarves would probably love wrestling, weight lifting, and sumo. The kinds of sports where having good strength and constitution helps and a lack of movement speed doesn't hurt.

Half-elves seem like they would be into dating shows and reality TV. Things where people have to guess if others are lying.

Halflings get cooking shows. Maybe also gardening and home improvement.

Tieflings watch sitcoms, standup comics, and horror movies. They also watch reality TV with the half-elves.

Dragonborn don't watch cable TV. They watch twitch streamers and YouTubers. Big e-sports enthusiasts too.

Elves get baseball.

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Elves get baseball.

But prefer the original sport: cricket because not stopping for meals is barbaric

[–] paultimate14@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Oooooh that's a great call. Yachting and rallying are also good ones for elves.

[–] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Tiefling TV has one show: Daria. That's it.

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I think this tweet is assuming W40k Orks actually. But if you add in Rugby and Ninja Warrior that about convers it yeah

During Yuletide, the Dwarf channel just shows a nicely roaring forge 24/7 for ambiance.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I feel like the Gnomes would be watching Mythbusters and top gear over the Orcs. They'd also get how it's made & junkyard wars.

[–] elephantium@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Hmm. Tinker Gnomes?

[–] Rooty@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Ooh, let's do obscure races!

Aarakockra: GoPro footage, mosty from parachuting and hang gliding.

Drow: Femdom focused BDSM porn.

Duregar: Those YT channels that show terrible conditions in 3rd world mines.

Kuo-Toa: Documentaries on the religions of Amazonian tribes.

Lamia: Readings of ancient Babylonian, Sumerian and Egyptian texts.

Githyanki: Django unchained on repeat

Flumphs: Galavant

elf tv all the way. at least you know your shows ain't getting cancelled on a 2nd season cliffhanger.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

But each of the 300 shows is only a season long

[–] herrvogel@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

But each episode is a max 10 minutes worth of script stretched to an hour through excruciatingly slow acting, overuse of slow motion, annoying reaction shots, and 2-3 segments per episode where a character watches the landscape all sad-like while a song plays in its entirety.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Hobbit TV would be mostly food and drink shows, then one or two good dramas at prime time.

[–] dumples@midwest.social 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Lots of baking competition shows like the Great British Bake Off but for every Hobbit city.

That and a show about genealogy. I didn't know how you make a show about family trees but hobbits could. It would be long and boring for everyone but hobbits. Most popular show by far

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh, something like this?

I wonder who would be the hobbit Gordon Ramsay.

[–] dumples@midwest.social 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No self respecting hobbit would ever not know their own genealogy.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I had this thought too. But then, they can revel in them or predict future matches?

[–] dumples@midwest.social 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Maybe it's a competition show where there's a from memory head to head genealogy tree against the actuals.

As someone who practically lived like a Hobbit through the pandemic, this was basically my entire TV viewing experience. 10/10 would quarantine at Bag End again.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

I feel like MythBusters and Top Gear would more be a gnome thing

[–] WolfLink@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago

Halfing TV sounds excellent

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Orc TV as a palette cleanser between runs of Halfling TV that you're devastated there isn't more of that show to watch

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

Today I learned that I am an Orc

[–] CaptSatelliteJack@lemy.lol 5 points 2 months ago

I'll take a combo package of orc and fairy channels

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You accidentally turn it to the True Fae Channel. You find yourself, essentially, in the 'Joan is Awful' episode of Black Mirror, but instead of going to the company HQ, you cycle between genres of horror movie while an otherworldly laughter echoes behind all of your screams.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Occasionally, you find yourself in the commercials from Supernatural's "Changing Channels."

[–] MercuryGenisus@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Damn I would watch Dwarf TV all day..

[–] PeriodicallyPedantic@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 months ago

Why do I want to subscribe to orc TV? Sounds so good.

Can we throw in junkyard wars / scrapheap challenge?

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org 4 points 2 months ago

Is GnomeTV < 3.0?

[–] lime@feddit.nu 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

kobold tv is all scrapheap challenge and dragon's den

[–] Mic_Check_One_Two@reddthat.com 5 points 2 months ago

Junkyard Wars and BattleBots at the same time. The robots have to be made out of scrap and beat the opponent while completing a specific task.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 3 points 2 months ago

Orcs would definitely have headbangers ball too

[–] Frostbeard@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I am an half Orc, half dwarf

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

KoboldTV: It's Everybody Loves Hypnotoad, except the toad is a dragon.

ModonTV: It's just a screensaver of various geometric shapes.

[–] teslasaur@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Human tv: mythbusters and Top Gear re-runs. Thats what i like to watch anyway.

I got really happy when they started to release full episodes of mythbusters on youtube.

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I think I would randomly flip through the channels from time to time, but mostly I would either be watching the elf TV or the halfling TV.

[–] dumples@midwest.social 2 points 2 months ago

I think both dwarves and halfing would love architecture shows. A fantasy version of grand designs would be epic
