Twenty-three musical acts from Russia's allies in Latin America, Africa and Asia are set to take the stage in Moscow this Saturday night for Intervision, Russia’s rival to Eurovision that revives the Soviet-era contest of the same name.

Billed as a “depoliticized” celebration of music, the event nonetheless comes in response to Russia’s exclusion from Eurovision after the invasion of Ukraine. And with Moscow doubling down on its campaign for “traditional values,” the spectacle promises to be a far cry from the camp, diversity and inclusion that Eurovision fans have come to expect.

I was surprised, but not so much anymore, that USA was participating. Brazil, India, Kenya, Colombia well a bit. Some are in BRICS, but still.

I think the key point is stop caring about concerns about the legacy of colonialism for the global south.

They are more than happy to cheer for colonialism and genocidal imperialism when it suits their needs.

Well yes, Russia has gained a lot of power in Africa via Wagner, and China both in Africa and South America. Disinformation is rampant in both contintents.

Which was always iffy because plenty of natives of colonised countries made vast wealth from empire too.
