Well it certainly didn't make sense to run your military infra on US proprietary software.

I suppose this is a move to become independent from USAmerican technology. Which makes sense, considering Trump's unpredictability. But it's still a good move anyways, independent of Trump, they should do it anyways.

Similarly in France the "Gendarmerie nationale", a branch of the French Armed Forces that do the police has been using "GendBuntu" on all their desktop since 2008.

It's a version of Ubuntu developed specifically for them.

I just switched the other day after Microsoft emailed me reminding me that my subscription ends in a month.

Then I cancelled right away and got $15 back.

After they offered me "AI free office" for like $40 less which I didn't even want in the first place.

Be interested to know how they migrated Excel accurately. That's the killer app for Office and what makes migration difficult.
