I bet they were just waiting for something stupid to fire him. Why would they keep the department going at all if they don't have to anymore?

Obviously this shouldn't have happened, but this is a good reminder to never associate your real identity with your social media accounts. If your job/hobby requires that you do so for self-promotion reasons, that is all that you should do on that account.
