Donald Trump could be plotting to outlaw the Democratic Party in the wake of the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, according to one analyst.

CNN’s Jamal Simmons said recent comments made by Trump and the White House deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, were “absolutely a concern” regarding the future of the two-party system in the United States.

Appearing with Kaitlan Collins on The Source to discuss the political impact of Kirk's assassination, Simmons said: “The president’s deputy chief of staff came out today and called the Democratic Party an extremist organization, after the president said that he was going to take action against extremist organizations. Therefore, the question arises in my mind: Is the president of the United States going to outlaw the Democratic Party? Is that where we’re headed?

I remember a whole lot of dipshit "independents", Enlightened Centrists, and not a few liberals/leftists calling people out all over the place for supposedly violating Godwin's Law. And that's not only back in 2015 and 2016.

These scolds who are way too occupied with being Tone Police were saying that even AFTER Godwin himself said this:

In 2023, Godwin published an opinion in The Washington Post stating "Yes, it's okay to compare Trump to Hitler. Don't let me stop you."[20] In the article, Godwin says "But when people draw parallels between Donald Trump’s 2024 candidacy and Hitler’s progression from fringe figure to Great Dictator, we aren’t joking. Those of us who hope to preserve our democratic institutions need to underscore the resemblance before we enter the twilight of American democracy."[21]

And now look where we are. Thank goodness a lot of these assholes abstained from voting because they didn't have an appropriately pretty pony being promised to them...

This is absolutely what they are planning. With the next step being this:

Law Against the Formation of Parties

[–] Alwaysnownevernotme@lemmy.world 45 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hey good thing we saved up all that decorum though right!

[–] Alwaysnownevernotme@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You can reuse the santorum, it's much more useful.

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

TIL! I've just been throwing mine away after

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Ah yes, because that's definitely related to Kirk.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 80 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Hmmm.

They really want political violence. They want it so bad they are forcing the conditions to occur. They just can't accept that people far more rational than them don't need violence.

The next step is forcing all professionals to become members of the party, where the employed, housed, and cared for are members of the party.

The heritage foundation is going full Nazi, and it seems to be ahead of schedule.

This leads me to believe they are well aware of how much power they still lack. And they are getting wary of losing the power they do have. It makes me wonder... What moved up their time table?

It wouldn't happen to be anything that involves a bruise on Trump's hand, posting AI videos of the president saying things, and long suddenly coherent tweets would it? They have a grenade with the pin pulled and if they let go they have a few seconds for it to be anywhere else than where they currently are.

We certainly live in interesting times.

[–] riskable@programming.dev 21 points 2 days ago

They're pushing the schedule ahead as fast as possible because Trump is literally dying. He probably had a stroke and has obviously been getting infusions. It won't be long before they announce, "he had a bad fall."

[–] Alloi@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (5 children)

honestly i wouldnt be surprised if hes already brain dead in a closet at mar-a-lago already, and they are using his likeness through AI to keep MAGA in power like how the Emperor from 40k keeps warp travel possible, and thus the empire "intact"

[–] Hector@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

When you listen to him speak you can tell it is more often than not off of the teleprompter. He is losing his mind such as it was. He is falling asleep during televised meetings. Back in 2020 he was talking shit off the top of his head, now he is just running on auto dick.

This is interesting. I understand the "techno fascist" wing has also stepped things up as their boy is about to take the reins. This is evidenced by the VP moving into high visibility positions and trying to look respectable.

But I wouldn't have any direct knowledge.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 49 points 2 days ago (7 children)

We're getting so close to being the old German Nazi party. This time controlled by zionists. I wonder who we'll murder?

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

They’re pretty obviously planning on murdering the homeless, and disabled first. They are planning on putting large amounts of Latinos in concentration camps and are going to start doing the same with political rivals.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They’re pretty obviously planning on murdering the homeless, and disabled first.

So same as the Nazis.

[–] Hector@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

And political opposition, dissidents, intellectuals, unionists, critics, wtc.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I think trans are going after "illegals". Then most of the gays. Maybe not the rich conservative ones, at least not yet. Maybe they find a way to seize their assets before they go to camp.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 2 days ago

the nazis copied many of its policies from US segration laws.

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Are they actually Zionists or is that just their excuse to steal power? Just kinda feels like they don’t actually care about anyone but themselves.

[–] missfrizzle@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

unpopular opinion: Republicans are using Jews the same way Democrats used trans people - as pawns they pretend to care about, then use as an excuse to attack their opponents. Jews will be left holding the bag, the way trans people were. this is the danger of letting fake allies speak for you.

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Jews will be left holding the bag

And it will be their fault. After two years of genocide being committed in the open in their names, they still overwhelmingly support the state of Israel.

And to be clear, while they're happy to use "antisemitism" as a rhetorical tool of suppression, they don't even pretend to care about Jews. They are openly and happily in bed with neo-nazis and white-supremacists, they don't even pretend to care about that. Their pitch is alt-right Christianity where if you send all the Jews to Israel, Jesus will finally come back; what logically follows from that pitch is the eventual targeting of Jews, after the brown people are delt with, for deportation to Israel.

And Israel is 100% on board, they're worried about population size, and they'd love an influx of "refugees", this has always been the goal, with early Zionists working with the Nazis and openly declaring that the antisemites with be their greatest allies.

[–] valtia@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Zionists are not controlling the New Nazi Party, that's absurd. Just like the original Nazi party, our New Nazi party are financially supporting Zionists in Palestine because Zionism happens to align with Nazi ideology when it comes to the belief that all Jews should be deported from the US and live somewhere else.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Is that why we're funding the war on gaza and beating up protestor in the Us who says anything against the Israeli governments policies? I dont think your theory matches reality.

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Anyone who isn’t straight, white, and conventionally religious. The only minorities that won’t get murdered will be the “good ones”…until they do.

no not really.

But also like...why when they're basically completely incompetent and just give the facisists what they want?

Why try to remove your most convenient opponent?

[–] minnow@lemmy.world 89 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Fascism craves power. The mere existence of a second party is a threat to that power, even if it's an unrealized threat. But the potential is still there. Fascism will always seek to create a single-party state for this reason.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 24 points 3 days ago

Precisely this. Any inkling, any glimmer of potential resistance, is too much. Even unenthusiastic acceptance isn't allowed. You have to stamp out the people who MIGHT POSSIBLY dissent, might possibly not WANT what's happening, to the eventual point that anything other than full-throated praise of what the regime is doing is disallowed.

Because there will be no other opponent. If they can use kirks murder to make one political party illegal, they can just make all political parties illegal

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They have to have an opponent. If fascism doesn't have an enemy to fight, then people start asking for actual solutions to problems. Fascists have no solutions beyond blaming others.

For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle. Thus pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. It is bad because life is permanent warfare. This, however, brings about an Armageddon complex. Since enemies have to be defeated, there must be a final battle, after which the movement will have control of the world. But such a “final solution” implies a further era of peace, a Golden Age, which contradicts the principle of permanent war. No fascist leader has ever succeeded in solving this predicament.

[–] thallamabond@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The frame of reference here is political enemy, as in political party. Absolutely there will be enemies, and the list of them will get smaller and smaller over time until finally the last fascist kills himself.

[–] harmbugler@piefed.social 6 points 2 days ago

This is exactly why I can only laugh and shake my head at the everyday fascists like Connor Estelle who think they will always be in the in-group. Fascism eats society from the outside in until there is nothing left.

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Or they're not incompetent and this is all intentional and just more theater to make people believe there is actual opposition in our government.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They're incompetent as fuck. Yes, Democrats are basically running a game of manufactured consent; they're part of the system that allows vigorous debate inside a frame, but you're never allowed to leave the frame.

That's a line of theory that comes from leftists books--Noam Chomsky, in particular. Fascists don't read those books, or even read the hallucinated AI summary of them. They have no clue what so ever that the Democrats are key to propping this whole system up.

Why stop there, just make decency a crime.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Well, it's at least a fireable offense. Didn't Hegseth go out of his way to fire some woman who dared to put - gasp! - pronouns on her profile?

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 51 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hey CNN - NO SHIT. You're about 6 months late to the game.

How is this a big deal? It's no different from when we outlawed the KKK, communists (see below), Proud Boys, Satanists, and private militias.

Oh, wait, WE NEVER BANNED ANY OF THOSE GROUPS!

TBF we kind of banned communists for a while but it didn't stick for long and it was mostly affected those that were plotting to overthrow the government, not just self-proclaimed communists.

[–] Nightlight17776@lemmy.ca 37 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh yay now we can have a broken one party system

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 39 points 3 days ago

Some say we already do.

[–] bubblybubbles@lemmy.ml 27 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Orange turnip being a full blown nazi

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago

So, nothing new

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 15 points 2 days ago

This is exactly what they've planned since he ran last time. Now they have "justification".

[–] Hector@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

This incident does not give them cause to do that. I suspect in 2027 there will be indictments handed down for false boat rigging allegations to democratic party members however.

[–] chemicalprophet@slrpnk.net 6 points 2 days ago

I mean, don’t fling us into that thar briar patch.

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 15 points 3 days ago

The democrat party that have nothing to do with this? That party?

Old shitty pants has a screw loose.

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.today 10 points 2 days ago

What really needs to be banned is the Nazi party which MAGAts have brought us today.
