So what the msnbc guy said was true? Hateful words lead to hateful actions?

Yeah, but the truth gets you fired these days.

I feel like it’s been that way for awhile. Christchurch shooter live streamed the whole thing and was a big 4channer.

I’m sure there are other examples of it.

Well, that's a fun assessment. Essentially we've hit the era of killing real people "for the lulz" and internet points? I mean, at least he went for someone vile instead of just killing random students as one usually does.

I'll tell you a story. In the Nazi Years my great-uncle was in the upper echelon of the German Reich. As in, he should have been in Nuremberg. And should have been hanged. He escaped judgement day with lies. "I'm just very conservative. What else could a conservative who loves his country have done. There was no alternative to beeing a Nazi. I am just a conservative."

Well. It was a lie. After the war he went right back to where he was and was an active Nazi right til the day he died. That despicable cunt loved, absolutely loved deception. He always had an explanation ready why the things he did weren't Nazi things.

This whole spiel just for lulz, nihilism or internet points smells like the same deception my uncle used.

Especially if you see who applauds and supports these assholes.

Already was, no? Remember the white guy shouting "subscribe to Pewdiepie" before killing 51 brown people?

[–] Megaman_EXE@beehaw.org 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Was that during the whole t-series vs pewdiepie thing?

[–] guillem@aussie.zone 3 points 5 days ago

I have no idea, never followed any of that.

This editorial is reaching a bit. Lots of “if’s” involved with her reasoning; and her understanding of the subject matter is tenuous at best. Isn’t FP like an old people airport magazine?

It's anything BUT easy access to guns and right wing hate.

I was, recently, recommended to read Black Pill: How I Witnessed the Darkest Corners of the Internet Come to Life, Poison Society, and Capture American Politics. After I've finished this, then I'll reassess this whole story.
