Why not just be born to rich parents? That way, you can inherit all their rental homes and massive retirement nest egg when they die, and then you can decide at 33 if you want to work or not.

33? Rich parents live 600 years at least. And they are cheap as fuck.

[–] philosloppy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

this is why you get your rich parents to pay for your ~~poison-making~~ chemistry degree at prestigious ivy league institutions

I'm 35 my parents are still around. Are they chain smokers in your example, do they frequently engage in free climbing?

Why are they dying so young, what are you doing to them?

Jeez at 23? I was just getting my FAM started at 23, buying my first home, and buying a motorycle so wife and baby could have the car.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You were a parent and a homeowner at 23? When was this, the 80s?

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

Early 90s. When things were cheap, because not every layered station of services or goods was trying to add outrageous profit.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Fuck you, I didn't accomplish half of that until 35. Quit showing off lol

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

It was an easier time I think. Life was cheap and easy.

Nobody is stopping you from retiring. The social security support from most countries only goes to the older population, but you can retire at any point in your life. It's called unemployment

[–] yourgodlucifer@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If you're willing to be homeless then sure you can retire
