Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I'll believe it when I see it. I don't expect anyone to ever be held accountable

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago

It was never about accountability. Just political kompromat.

Powerful people are still going to abuse kids. Nobody is even suggesting that we do anything about that.

I doubt the orange pig will be named. trump would literally burn this whole country down rather than face the consequences of his actions.

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Bold to assume anyone on that list would face consequences.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Either it isn't going to happen or they will be so sanitized they will not be credible.

GOP: we've released all 45 pages!

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

LOL. Yeah, just like that.

UNREDACTED

It's it's redacted, Trump is a child rapist by default.

[–] Yawweee877h444@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago

Trump and other Republicans will be redacted, they're on record saying this.

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

The only exception are the victims’ names, there’s nothing to be gained from putting them in the spotlight, though I do have massive respect for those who have already spoken out on their own.

And they'll keep drawing it out and PEDOnald will keep up with the distracting atrocities...

MAGAts don't care if he molested children. They don't care if he is a rapist either. And no one in the gov is going to prosecute that orange cancer....

Peed-on Pedonald

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago

This sounds too similar to “in two weeks…” promises.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 18 points 5 days ago

They say one thing BUT they do something else. I've seen this before.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Just as soon as those thousands of FBI agents are done redacting Trump's name from everything

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 14 points 5 days ago

Oh, they'll "release" it all right. But they'll narrow down the scope as much as possible to some combination of "things that have already been released", "things that can't be released" (ie, the grand jury records, which are pretty much never released and which require judicial approval), , and "new things the public hasn't seen yet but which are redacted to near total blackness".

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 13 points 5 days ago

Can't wait for absolutely nothing to come of it

[–] salacious_coaster@infosec.pub 11 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

They voted no on that just a few days ago.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Oh they admit they will do it? Cool pardon me for believing they're as likely to do what they say as a politician is to do what they say

[–] Adulated_Aspersion@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Calling it.

The unredacted files will emerge.

Right as they actually do, Trump will step away from the presidency for "health concerns".

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

That's not his MO. He'll either deny it as a fake news witch hunt or make it sound like it's completely normal behavior "That's just locker room rape."

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 days ago

Lol Trump will never voluntarily step down. That's a pipe dream

[–] LemmingOnTheEdge@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Assuming Congress votes to release everything, wouldn't the president still need to sign it? It seems unlikely Congress could override a veto.

Gonna have to see both hands while they say it so I know nobody's crossing fingers or doing subtle air quotes to pretend they aren't lying.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

And then he'll veto it and they'll be back in "let's move past this" mode with a side helping of plausible deniability.
