MODERATORS

They don't have to be that enlightening. They can be kinda dumb, pleasant and laid back, heavy... I'm looking for a spectrum.

Rap songs purely about poorshaming, partying, and being hypersexual are feeling stale.

I guess most people here already know these but some that come immediately to mind:

-The Coup
-Dead Prez
-Immortal Technique
-Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli)

Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor, as well as The Cool are two of my favorite albums. If your into these check out Tetsuo and Youth.

Deltron 3030 is a concept album about intergalactic mecha rap battles.

The Roots album ...And Then You Shoot Your Cousin is a super unique album sonically but pretty much all their albums are solid.

Nujabes albums Metaphorical Music and Modal Soul

Kid Cudis albums Man on the Moon 1 and 2

Most Defs album Black on Both Sides

El-Ps album Cancer 4 Cure

Any Aesop Rock. I'm particularly fond of Labor Days, Impossible Kid, and Integrated Tech Solutions

Binary Stars album Masters of the Universe

Cyhi The Princes album Black Histori Project is very braggadocious but doesn't really get hypersexual, poorbash, or go on about partying. Some very hype songs on this one without the issues you listed.

And while it's the opposite of what you asked for, Danny Browns run from XXX to Quaranta is really amazing if you dive into the lyrics and themes presented in the 5 albums and the parallels they have with his career. A lot of his songs are hypersexual and about partying but between those songs are some of the most real reflections and critiques on living that lifestyle I've ever heard. On top of being an amazing lyricist he has one of the most unique styles I've ever heard and there is absolutely nothing stale about him imo.

Tupac easily but this is no revelation lol

Violent is probably one of my favorites. Haven't listened in a while but that one stands out

Bob Vylan - Bait the Bear I'm a huge fan of this whole album tbh. It lives in my head rent free.

Kneecap - HOOD

The Neighborhood Kids - START A FIRE ft. DAMAG3

These are some fun ones I've added to my steady rotation over the last year

Lots of good suggestions here. Check out ~~Bamboo~~ Bambu. Also, MF Doom has one of the coolest flows ever, check it out.

Little Simz, she has a new album out.

Black Thought, on his solo projects or with The Roots.

King Iso, I particularly like his albums "Get Well Soon" and "Dementia".

SA-ROC, her album "The Sharecropper's Daughter" is great.

Ren, I recommend watching the music videos for his songs.

Kxng Crooked and Joell Ortiz, their album "Harbor City Season One" definitely has a few.
