Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Oh no!

Anyway...

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 7 hours ago

Does this qualify as a Herman Cain award?

Couldn’t happen to a better guy. He advocated for guns on campus, and got exactly what he wanted.

He stated that the few shootings were worth it. Not a soul should feel sorry for him.

I’m fairly confidant this is a setup for Trump to start taking away guns, though, not some heroic revolutionary.

That's called irony.

Next up: RFK Jr dies of COVID and Marco Rubio is arrested by ICE for looking too latino.

Isn't it only ironic if the event that happens is opposite of what is expected? He advocated for guns on campus knowing that it would result in shootings and deaths, he just didn't expect it would happen to him.

There are several types of irony (not sure if this just applies to literature.)

Verbal irony is when a person says one thing but means the opposite;

Situational irony is when the reverse of what is expected happens; and

Dramatic irony is when the audience knows something that the characters do not.

This falls under dramatic irony imo

Exactly.

The same way it's going to be wildly ironic when the ICE Gestapo starts going after MAGA voters.

[–] Xulai@mander.xyz 12 points 10 hours ago

We can hope.

I’m excited to see him try. Today there was also another school shooting, and none of them cared.

He also stated he hated the word "empathy" and thought it was a made up "new age" term.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 46 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

When a MAGA piece of shit gets gunned down, our Dear Leader is tripping over himself to praise the sonofabitch.

But when kids get gunned down at school, not a peep.

You know where the orange utan's sympathies lie. What a nauseating human being...

Hey, I hate Trump as much as the next guy, but I have to correct this. In January of '24, when Trump was on the campaign trail there was a school shooting in Perry, Iowa that took the life of a sixth grader and injured 7 others. After a moment of silence, Trump did come out and make a statement. The moment of silence was 36 hours long and the statement was "get over it", so it would probably be better if he had kept his mouth shut, but there you go. He did make a peep.

Mod opinion: Links to the video not marked NSFW/NSFL will be removed.

My non-mod opinion:

Not going to celebrate, just noting:

"I can't stand the word 'empathy', I think it's a made up New Age term." - Charlie Kirk

Eh. He was disgusting traitor filth. It’s fine to celebrate. Fuck him, I hope he suffered.

I do not condone this type of violence in any way whatsoever. I never liked this guy and he was human garbage, but this is not the answer.

However... I do not feel bad for him or his fans. I feel bad for his kids who had to witness it and will now grow up without a father and I would never wish that upon anyone. Unfortunately, when you base an entire career off of hate you'll only get hate back. We're talking about the same man that said school shootings and people dying from gun violence are necessary sacrifices. The same man that wanted to bail out the guy that assassinated two Democratic lawmakers. The same man that stopped talking about Epstein as soon as Trump came up.

I think political violence is disgusting and a slippery slope to so much worse, but I do not feel bad for this man for facing the consequences of his actions and hate.

[–] drkt@scribe.disroot.org 10 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, political violence is a slippery slope. They should've thought of that when they started it.

[–] TommySoda@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

You're not wrong, they definitely started it. But just because they started it doesn't mean it's all of a sudden a good thing when it happens just because you don't like the guy. You can condone this type of violence and also not feel bad for the guy at the same time. We all know the saying "an eye for an eye makes the world go blind."

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Eye for an eye, only applies if the person taking your eye has empathy. WWII and nazi germany weren't solved with words and discussion.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

It’s high time the traitor filth suffer the fear of the masses.
