How about this: release the files so we can know instead of speculating. If he's in the files, let him explain himself in front of a judge.

When the greentext is just green text

Not sure if baiting, or if actually avatar level of mind bending.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

The uncanny valley is pretty wide these days.

I happen to also believe that having a friendship with a paedophile doesn't automatically make someone a paedophile. However, to have the type of relationship that trump and epstein had and to claim complete ignorance of his crimes is absurd. Trump, obviously knew about epstein and maxwells activities and if he didn't actively participate, he passively accepted it and covered it up for decades.

And as the saying goes if 9 people sit at a table and a paedophile sits down and none of them say anything, there are 10 paedophiles at the table.

And as the saying goes if 9 people sit at a table and a paedophile sits down and none of them say anything, there are 10 paedophiles at the table.

I really don't like this argument. There's a big difference between not reporting something and being complicit in that something.

For example, my neighbor smokes pot, and likely does so illegally. If I don't report them, does that make me a pot smoker? No, that's absurd! I personally don't agree w/ the drug law despite having no desire to use marijuana, so there's absolutely no reason for me to report them.

That said, if my neighbor was a pedophile, I would report them. Why? Because I want to protect kids, and getting the police involved is the best way to do that. So if there are 9 people at a table and a pedophile sits down and none says anything, there's still one pedophile, but also 9 pedophile enablers. I don't think those people should be guilty by association, but I do believe they are shirking their moral responsibility.

As you yourself say, if we're talking about the systematic trafficking and molestation of children, silence is complicity. There's a world of difference between a crime that literally doesn't harm anyone and what epstein was doing.

I've seen this exact same text written to look like a real comment on three different platforms now...

when the pedo sex crime conspiracy theorists finally are proven right... the new conspiracy theory is that it was all just a hoax and there's no deep state or pedo trafficking rings despite mounting evidence

mighty convenient

If you see more you should screenshot them and make a collage so we can all see the propaganda machine at work a little clearer

You think that it's a foreign influence operation or just the same dude?

woah. so what does it mean and what did I just perpetuate by posting it here?

[–] miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 1 week ago

Trump anons on 4chan.

A glowing moron

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 10 points 1 week ago

Well yeah. That's the point of 4chan, brains need not apply.

[–] voracitude@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

There are vanishingly few generalisations a person can make on the internet and have any chance of being correct. This one, though, you're bang-on right every time.

[–] Hoimo@ani.social 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Who is anon quoting here? Because his text is green, but he's clearly not greentexting.

[–] sad_detective_man@leminal.space 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I assumed from the greentext and the thumbnail they were mocking other anons. it was a thread making fun of the pedo cope on 4chan but the veneer of "irony" is so schizo that I can't really keep track any more

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wasn't that how 4chan turned to the right? At first it was irony, until enough idiots were there to take it seriously.

Kind of like https://xkcd.com/591/

[–] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

Pretty much people kept joking about Trump being a God King until it wasn't a joke.

Where @DonaldJMusk@lemmy.today gets his opinions. What an asshole.

[–] bad_news@lemmy.billiam.net 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Except it was an open secret in the NY Metro area from the 80's and 90's that Trump was big in the "Klub Kidz" scene where rich people would bang teens who came in from CT and NJ and upstate. He was literally snorting coke off lithe 14yos with Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali at Studio 54.

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Frank’s Little Beauties. Trump owned Miss Teen USA from ‘96 to ‘15. We can put 2 and 2 together.

Well, I'll tell you the funniest is that I’ll go backstage before a show, and everyone's getting dressed and ready and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere. And I'm allowed to go in because I'm the owner of the pageant and therefore I'm inspecting it. You know, I'm inspecting, I want to make sure that everything is good.

You know, the dresses. ‘Is everyone okay?’ You know, they're standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody okay?’ And you see these incredible looking women, and so, I sort of get away with things like that. But no, I've been very good.

[–] bad_news@lemmy.billiam.net 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

People who support Trump often say "I don't see him as a weird sex guy" but if you're not from the NY Metro area in the 80's to mid 90's, you have no idea how normalized pedophilia and near pedophilia was. Seinfeld openly dated a 17yo in the late 90's even. One of my grammar school teachers was an open pedophile, and NO adults cared. The kids just all tried to avoid being the kid who caught his fancy the year you have him. They eventually did fire him much later in the late 90's as the culture shifted, but this shit was tolerated to celebrated for at least like 16 years regionally.

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 4 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I didn’t realize NY had an especially open culture around it, I wonder why

[–] bad_news@lemmy.billiam.net 5 points 6 days ago

The OG Gossip Girl novels are literally about high schoolers dating adult bankers, it's not even like it was a secret even after the culture started to shift.

[–] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 0 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Even now in NY the age of consent is 17

In my state it's 16 and they recently met to decide if they wanted to raise it to 18... and decided not to.

There was actually a news story a few months back about how the cops had to let a 40 year old who met with and had sex with a 16 year old girl on the internet go much to the complaint of the father because as far as the state was concerned.. the latter was legally an adult and could make her own sexual choices.

The idea that this stuff is wrong is newer than you might think. I know it sickens me too

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Most of the developed world is 16 yeah ? Australia is. Hell you can soon vote in elections at 16 in the UK.

[–] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

Indeed, America's weird in that in quite a few states you're able to fuck adults and drive at 16, but you still go to school and can't vote until 18, when you can join the army and take on tons of debt, but you can't drink or smoke till 21, and you can't rent a car until 25.
