IIRC NZ First was the first party in NZ to hire conservative thinktanks from overseas. This is their consultants calling the shots.

The only good thing is that Act and NZ First should be fighting over and splitting those that will listen to their dog whistles

I don't think they will even bother with dog whistles. They will come out and say it. Look at how much Winston hates gay and trans people for example. You think he is going to couch his speech in any way?

He is still carefull in what he says; ok, maybe ont on trans issues - there his a right old cunt

Splitting the vote doesn't really help if both parties are easily over the threshold.

It does unless Labour shits their pants again and refuses to coalition with NZFirst.

Splitting the vote between Act and National? I don't see how this changes anything, since neither of them would ever coalition with Labour.

Splitting some into NZF might, but I don't know that I like Winnie the king maker.

Yeah, no effect for NAct... only for NZF.

Same as the green/labour split is irrelevant.

Unfortunately NZF, when in parliament, are king makers. What I meant was that one should not forbid forming a coalition with the king maker, unless one wants to lose.
