Me, staring at my alarm about to go off in 5 minutes after tossing and turning for an hour: "this is the single most comfortable spot in the universe and I am so sleepy now"

I’m in this comic and don’t like it.

So am I. Following a friend's advice, I started doing 30 minute exercise after work. It has helped a lot.

[–] morto@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago

In my case, it was due to overstimulation. Now I stop looking at screens about an hour before sleeping, and I turn off all light sources before sleeping, and I managed to regulate my sleep.

Sleepy and tired aren't the same. I'm mentally drained after work, but not sleepy, just zombified.

From banging my head on the wall because the same person keeps forgetting their password or still can't plug shapes into shapes to hook up their dock and monitors.

I know, it goes in the square hole.

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Exactly, can't go a few hours of work without someone else's stupidity giving you brain damage.

I like that the hat moves from the frog to the bear between frames 1 and 4

[–] medem@lemmy.wtf 4 points 2 days ago

I tried Shiatsu and it didn't help shit.

A frog would be crushed by the majority of gym equipment.

You telling me these guys don't lift?

[–] CrowAirbrush@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

That worked very well for me, turns out my job was far too boring and offered no challenges.

I made the mistake of not succesfully monetizing my workouts, because groceries got so expensive i had to stop my gym membership.

Have been a vegetable ever since, zero motivation and energy to do shit.

Looking at your phone screen won’t help you get sleepy.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I kept thinking about something and it did help a bit to distract me

But I also moved around a bit, got some water, and played with the cat.

Are you calling me ignorant?

Relax! They didn’t say you had to learn anything from the book.

[–] Ernstrommel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

lol. That’s how it goes.

[–] tatann@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

To be fair, we can't sleep partly because we spend the evening looking at a screen

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I've heard this my whole life, yet I game deep into the night, go to bed and sleep within 5m tops. Did this for the last 3 decades or so, I must be a special snowflake 😁

[–] nieceandtows@programming.dev 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's what I did/do, you probably have an undiagnosed ADHD like me. We crave the serotonin so much, that if we don't have it for 5 minutes we fall asleep.

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Probably yes. I highly think that is the case. Lying in bed is so boring instantly, I just fall asleep...

^What people who don't have insomnia think it's like.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Insomnia isn't just a magical curse put on you. There are real causes, some of which are side-effects of the high rate of caffeine consumption.

[–] Rachelhazideas@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Insomnia is a chronic incurable medical condition.

If you can cure it by limiting caffeine consumption, that's not medical insomnia that's just a caffeine issue.

It's just like migraines. If you can treat it with ibuprofen, you don't have a migraine you have a headache.

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

‘High caffeine consumption’

My caffeine consumption: less than 70 mg/day, equivalent to one very weak cup of coffee.
