/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

It's weird how many people aren't aware since this constantly gets brought up, but most people aren't I guess.

But yeah, hates lgbt, anti-choice, backed Trump....

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

WTH. What's up with these phony bastards?

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Complete piece of shit, yeah

Ship's phasers delivered a space baby once.

It's a scifi show, everything is a medical device. Palm beacons, phasers, nanoprobes, warp plasma, whatever tupperware casserole bowl Spock wore as a beltbuckle while his brain was missing. Its all fair game.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 28 points 3 days ago (1 children)

McCoy used one to heat up some rocks to keep an incapacitated Kirk warm.

[–] Battle_Masker@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They did that several times in TNG

[–] UnpledgedCatnapTipper@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They did it in DS9 and I think Enterprise and Voyager too!

[–] Klear@quokk.au 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Kirk sure gets incapacitated a lot.

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Is that what we’re calling it now?

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

In real like most things can be medical devices.

Knives, rope, sticks, heated metal, paper bags, pens, and random clothing all come to the top of my head as things on hand used for improvised medical devices from tourniquets to braces to that thing where they have to poke a hole in your neck so you can breathe. An accurate phaser could be both the knife and the heated metal if what is cut needs cauterized!

For number 3: Acetocholine. Always. Except in a minority of cases, Triox.

[–] ItsComplicated@sh.itjust.works 18 points 3 days ago

Technically true

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

Set Steve Harveys to stunned

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

I never thought about this before but when you go on a game show you probably sign away any hope of suing them for your rightly-owed winnings when you get the answer right but they tell you you’re wrong. I guess on FF there isn’t really a concept of “right.” Just “survey says…!”

Shaxs and Dr. T'Ana: Good answer, good answer!

Ah, yes, the obvious Tuvix solution ... (but Janeway didn't want to sacrifice the orchid so she waited for another solution).

[–] Batman@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

typical red shirt thinking.

Stunning is a form of anesthetics, isn't it?

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 5 points 3 days ago

Haha, I like how you gloss right over the obvious. Have an upvote

[–] slingstone@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I mean, you could probably cauterize a wound on a low setting. Why do I feel like I've seen this in a recent episode?

[–] kaitco@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

She would use it to heal other people from her lack of coffee. It prob wouldn't work but you never know if the next one will be the one.

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@fedia.io 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

phasers unruly patient

What? Oh chill the fuck out, it's on stun.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

[checks phaser settings]

"Oh shit"

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@fedia.io 4 points 2 days ago

Anyways, that's why I'm not allowed to practice medicine anymore.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Technically true, star fleet engineers knownhownto make transporters from rocks, using a phaser as a curing tool instead of a killing tool shouldn't be too hard.

It can be used as a sedative, at least.
