having speed limiters would be a good idea
the limit should be ~10 over though
sometimes you need some leeway for safety

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 10 points 11 months ago

most of everyone would just do 10 over, rendering the whole idea pretty moot

the idea is pretty moot to begin with tbh
50cc mopeds here have restrictors on them, and pretty much every teenager immediately gets it removed shrug-outta-hecks
sometimes because being stuck to exactly the speed limit is pretty dangerous
if people behind you are doing 35 until they have you in front of them, you get to enjoy having cars uncomfortably close behind you while they get increasingly annoyed until they can overtake

The tech works pretty well but I've found that it will fairly regularly pick up a sign on an off ramp or service road or construction sign that's been there since 2009 and tell you the wrong speed limit. So I guess if it were to automatically limit the car's speed we'd have a bunch of people driving 25 on the freeway. Anyway usually there's also a limiter that you can turn on and have it follow the speed limit.
