Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared a video about Christian domination in the age of Donald Trump — and his since sparked controversy.

Late Thursday, Hegseth posted to his X platform, "All of Christ for All of Life," sharing a report from CNN that profiled Douglas Wilson, a self-described Christian nationalist pastor who has built an international network of dozens of churches, schools and a college since the 1970s. Hegseth has been identified as a prominent follower.

Wilson’s vision of a Christian society includes “women as an individual shouldn’t be able to vote.” His fellow pastors agreed — with one claiming, “in my ideal society, we would vote as a households.”

Project 2025, everyone.

We've been telling you for a while.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 25 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Project 2025 was public for about a year before the election. People voted for this.

[–] Narauko@lemmy.world 20 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I know several boomers who still believe Trump knew/knows nothing about Project 2025 and the amount of stuff getting completed on the Project 2025 is just purely coincidental. They cannot handle having been unable to tell Trump was lying about that, so cognitive dissonance it is

[–] squaresinger@lemmy.world 9 points 14 hours ago

I can't decide what's worse. Trump knowing and enacting Project 2025, or Trump being too dumb and ignorant to know about what his own party has been publically cooking up and too easily manipulated to resist when his employees want him to enact Project 2025 policies...

Why do people think that being dumb, weak and easily manipulated are somehow better?

There was a post on Lemmy the other day about Musk "actually not being that bad", because he's not a Nazi at heart and only plays the role of a Nazi for personal benefit. Tbh, that's even worse, not an excuse.

[–] nexguy@lemmy.world 25 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

This reminds me of the time Trump wouldn't release the Trump-Epstine files.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 3 points 12 hours ago

The same tRUMP who is P01135809? Who's a convicted criminal, rapist of E.Jean Carroll, best friend to Jeffrey Epstein, and unregistered paedophile. That Donald tRUMP?

[–] Narauko@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago

Are you talking about the Donald Trump who is definitely on the Epstein list, because the only reason to disappear evidence against your opponents is because you are also on there? I am also experiencing that particular deja vu.

If you have not yet come to the conclusion that Pete Hegseth is a dangerous and disgusting pile of dung, go listen to the recent Behind the Bastards podcast episode about him.

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 43 points 23 hours ago

Yeah the dude whose cheated on all of his wives constantly, stole money from two separate charities he ran, and would regularly take his charity employees out to the strip club where he'd get shit faced drunk and pressure his employees to have sex with him is definitely the type of guy who should be lecturing us all about Christ.

Fun fact: He's failed at every job hes ever had except at Fox News where he was sleeping with his producer to get more air time. Seems on point that he only got his position by sleeping his way to the top.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 day ago

The constantly looking like he's smelling his own shit Hegseth, follows the pastor that gives prayers at the pentagon and,

In a May blog post titled, “A Mission to Babylon” announcing the new church in Washington, Wilson wrote there would be “many strategic opportunities with numerous evangelicals who will be present both in and around the Trump administration.”

“We’re not planting the church so that we can get to meet senators and important people. What we’re doing is planting a church so that the important people in DC will be reminded that God is the important one. What matters is His favor,” Wilson told CNN. “We’ve got a number of people that are connected to us that are there, and we wanted to have a church service available for them.”

He's absolutely planting the church so that can get to meet senators and important people.

Even before the BtB I knew he was a garbage fire of a human.

His accomplishments in scumbaggery are impressive though... getting fired from THREE conservative veterans organizations, including one founded, due to graft and sexual coercion?

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 24 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I cannot imagine anything more narcissistic than projecting your own rabid sexism and authoritarianism on to “God.”

There is no god, it’s just your own ego Pete. You don’t strike me as a true believer either, and so I think you know this.

[–] skuzz@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 16 hours ago

His god is Jack Daniels and you will respect the bottle. /s

It's so fucking annoying they use this "vote as a household" thing as some kind of way to say that they aren't saying that only men should be able to vote. But if you make one single connection to another belief they have, that men are the head of the household and decide how it is run and what happens inside it, you can see their real beliefs.

Republican women, and especially evangelical christian republican women, are openly advocating for giving up their right to vote even if they don't realize it (they usually do).

I caught this interview live last night and it was truly disturbing. The host asked the guy “well what if your wife disagrees with you?” And his response was “well that opens up a great opportunity for discussion”.

So basically he was just too much of a loser to openly say his wifes opinion shouldnt matter because he would make the final decision anyways.

Also, if women arent married do they not get to vote then? Is this just another excuse to push women to marry incel losers and nutjobs that believe this type of bullshit? Its ironic how all these “mens rights” type of losers are the most pathetic excuses for men ever to walk the earth. Nothing could be less manly to me than hearing a guy say he has to have 100% control over a woman in order to not be an insecure little bitch

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago

My baptist mother only votes the way her shitbag husband tells her.

She thinks it's her duty despite claiming to be completely apolitical.

[–] Wytch@lemmy.zip 31 points 1 day ago (3 children)

And naturally, a household will be defined as a straight, married, white Christian family.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 3 points 16 hours ago

Don't forget 'property owning'

Keeps thems poor folk from tainting the rightfully righteous righteousness of the right.

[–] snekerpimp@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Where the patriarch has the final say, right? So even if the wife and the 12 kids she’s forced to have disagree with him vehemently, it’s still the man’s vote that counts.

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

But he gets extra votes for every child he sires, because reasons.

[–] SkavarSharraddas@gehirneimer.de 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You mean the man's 14 votes.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 1 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

i’ll tell you what. Give me the 14 votes now, so that I can use them in any upcoming election, and I promise, I totally swear, that I will use my 14 votes to vote for this bullshit that you want. Scout’s honor.

[–] postcapitalism@lemmy.today 1 points 16 hours ago

I mean fuck that cunt

[–] riverSpirit@thelemmy.club 9 points 1 day ago

I agree! Let strong proud Republican women lead the charge next election.

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

...would disagree with this bullshit

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

Not what I want my SecDef to be doing.

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

Yeah, no. I don't want to divorce but this would force my hand. We were two separate -for-legal-purposes-households living in the same house before, can be again.

Those who disregard history will be doomed to repeat it.

[–] tal@lemmy.today 3 points 23 hours ago

Wilson’s vision of a Christian society includes “women as an individual shouldn’t be able to vote.”

https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2024/04/09/partisanship-by-gender-sexual-orientation-marital-and-parental-status/

  • Among all registered voters, men tilt to the GOP (52% of men identify with or lean toward the Republican Party, 46% to the Democratic Party).
  • By a similar margin, women tilt Democratic (51% Democratic, 44% Republican, including leaners).
