They're still reeling from the CHIPS act rug pull, they put a lot of their liquidity into spinning up their new fabs and now that Trump has put in effect frozen parts of that funding I would venture to guess they are putting a lot of their own money into the project which spooking investors

cutting R&D as a CPU vendor is like a hospital selling its MRI machines to cover payroll.

I like the hospital analogy. I was picturing it like selling your car for gas money but I like yours better.
