So I found out today that I've only failed one subject in my course, and it was a borderline fail. The uni people have told me that if I pass everything else in the course, they can give me a supplementary exam for that specific subject. All is not lost.

As for trying to decide my path at this stage in my life, I've fallen into a rabbit hole compulsively web searching different careers. Everything from accounting to electrical work. It's time to stop this. The internet won't give me an answer. I have to try out different things to figure it out. I'm going to hold off making any big decisions until the end of this semester.

Piedmonte's had a display of Four Pillars gin - flavoured with 'fresh yuzu'. As yuzu is one of my favorite flavours, I think I might invest in a bottle .... Lemon meringue pie but with yuzu instead of lemon .... the possibilities are endless.

Woke after dreaming I was struck by lightning and electrocuted. And look at the clock and it’s only 1am, feels like I’ve been asleep much longer.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 9 points 8 months ago

Rested again today, toe was bothering me overnight and today, I changed over the dressing and wasn’t as bad as I thought or it could have been but the toe was pretty swollen.

I felt no pain yesterday strangely enough and today I’ve had pangs of discomfort.

I hope it’s better tomorrow.

Dissociation/not being bodily present isn't a great thing, but it sure comes in handy for dentist appointments 😬 🦷 🪥

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago

I’ve been so often the last 10 years I can almost fall asleep lol

I think it's working. Goodnight everyone ❤️

The smoke detectors have just been tested and Mr Woof was not happy about the invasion. He was also confused about whether he should bark at the stranger or run and hide when the beeping started.

Miss Meow disappeared entirely and I expected to not see her for a while, but she rallied much quicker than expected and is now out of hiding and on my lap (it appears under the couch was the hiding spot of choice today).

I'm doing training all day Wednesday and Thursday so I can deal with the most complicated account types that we have. There aren't a great deal of people at my org who do this. I've been told the training is rather lacking and I'll just be thrown in to figure it out afterwards.

Not really looking forward to the new type of work but it's good for development, and good they think I'm capable

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Congrats! Yes, this is a declaration of above average competence. I remember back when I worked in insurance, and had to figure out how to set premiums for a super account that was in PNG kina, with added Parliamentary super on top of it. Took some serious research. And a VERY complicated spreadsheet. With date ranges. And currency conversions. Everyone else chickened out when faced with the problem, the mongrels, cos it was going to be audited ... but I survived and so will you. I have faith in you.

[–] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

🥰🥰 thank you. That sounds absolutely disgusting 🤣

If I say "I'm good for a meeting on Wednesday up until 3pm" that used to mean "I am not around after 3". I reckon at least three times in the last week someone has responded to that with a meeting request AT 3 (or equivalent).

It's doing my head in. Have I suddenly become unclear or did you all have a big pow wow and change the meaning of time on me??!

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 9 points 8 months ago

I think that's why people invented the phrase "hard stop at 3". It's cringe corpo speak but most people get it.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago

Sounds like their reading comprehension was lost somewhere lol

Not sure what's changed to have had three different spam callers today. Assuming tax-time scams though. Everyone else important would leave a message or send a text or email.

Had to park at Sunshine station this morning (bus replacement service from my local), left the office early, driving home and nearly hit a junkie (on their pushbike) who thought it was a good idea to absolutely fang it through the pedestrian crossing when cars had the green arrow to turn.

Homey looked cooked, but determined.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

😔

i dunno, I just find drug addiction sad

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Definitely sad. I've done drugs in the past, but managed to avoid the spiral down. That could have been me if some things went differently, for sure.

PoliticsJeez. There’s a ship bringing food to Palestinian civilians and the IDF has stormed it

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 9 points 8 months ago (2 children)

The whole situation is horrific. I understand why they might want to search the ship, eg for weapons, but that shouldn’t affect supply. There’s not enough food getting in and it looks like it’s an intentional genocide attempt by starvation. And the best the rest of the world can do is a couple of limp comments like ‘it’s concerning’ or a slightly braver ‘it’s unacceptable’ or similar words, but zero attempt at action. I was so upset seeing the skeletal kids on tv. Heartbreaking.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

It’s absolutely horrific the way civilians are being starved and killed.

I have to block most of it out

Awake early, but seeing the beautiful sunrise made it worth it!

Also, new love unlocked. Hotel club lounge access. 2 hours of drinks and canapes in the evening?! Yes, please!!

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 7 points 8 months ago

I went to that Museum of Desire over the weekend. It's a bit of fun, but very basic and very hetero. It's more of an instagram opportunity for corporate drones than a learning experience.

There are a couple of stores just around the corner that would teach you a lot more about those sorts of things, if you know where to look.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 8 months ago (7 children)

black coffee has been drunk , it's ok

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

It might be worth looking into the milk alternatives. I quite enjoy oat and you can get some nice flavoured versions

oh kay

panadol has been obtained and taken, let's see if i can have some back pain relief 😢

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Im trying the final thing I can to fix my sleep tonight. If this doesn't work then it's the sleep clinic.

I felt awful today. Seems that because I had a great sleep the other night and last night was the usual crap, it hit a lot harder today.

The weather has cleared up and I have one load of washing on the line and some sheets finishing up to go out shortly. Fingers crossed the predicted clear patch between now and tomorrow afternoon eventuates and I am able to get everything dry. A few of the most critical items are undercover on the airer just in case.

Finally got most of my stuff ported over to the iPhone.

Actually like it so far. Missing some stuff from my Samsung but this thing is actually pretty damn good!

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago (3 children)

The Marley Spoon box is here. Mr Woof tried to make a break for freedom while I was bringing it inside, but I grabbed him just in time. I am starting to acquire an excessive amount of garlic, every box comes with a full head but only uses a couple of cloves. This is a very good problem to have. The Dinnerly box next week will be the last of my free boxes and I will have to go back to normal meal planning and paying for my own food.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 8 points 8 months ago

Time to do up a 100 garlic chicken I think.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago

There was a Middle Eastern garlic dip or you could roast them

Trying to decide if it’s the tofu hurting my stomach or it’s some other annoying biological factor. Edit: yeah I think I know 🫩

I’m also considering checking out different areas to live but even with asking around it’s hard to know what they’re like.

Rainbow 🌈 😊

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (2 children)

Hungry and tempted to go back for more tofu. It’s definitely not like cream cheese but almost reminds me of hummus. Maybe if I reblend half of it with some more vinegar it will be smoother and more like what I set out to make. I definitely screwed the recipe up.

Debating if I should buy an actual blender but wondering if it’ll be used enough for the space

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Don’t worry about it. We all have recipe fails. Next attempt will be better. If you’re looking for way to transform tofu to get more protein in diet, I once had some tofu chocolate mousse someone brought to work. It was pretty good. Maybe worth a try?

You can buy a stick blender for $20 at kmart.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I have a stick blender but it’s not as powerful as a regular blender

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

Oh right. You can get more powerful stick blenders though.

You could also look at nutribullets.
