Just seen a thread on reddit, where people are complaining about UK residents having to provide their ID to see online porn. The outrage is widespread, you never see this kind of outrage when kids or the disabled are being starved to death by the government. One redditor even said something like, "I was appalled when the government made it more difficult for people to get disability benefits, but this - requiring ID for porn - has gone too far and now I really want to do something about this!"

I dunno, I’m not seeing college campus protests elevating to the point of violence by the state over online porn ID laws. It’s easy for gooners to whine on the internet, but it’s easy for anyone to whine on the internet.

Using Reddit as proof of this isn't very strong to be honest, Redditors in general only care about jerking themselves off. No one is protesting in the streets because they need ID to jerk off,

Yeah I can't actually blame anyone for this kind of behavior without massive hypocrisy in some way or another. There are so many great evils in the world today that, with the context that my emotional health already sucks, if I actually took time to think deeply on how upsetting each one of them is I would be in a mental hospital longterm. At some point I give myself leeway to to kick and scream and dramatize about minor inconveniences that affect me personally, and in a lot of cases online is a more appropriate place for having those tantrums.

It's not just porn that is blocked by the UK ID law. It's any post that is marked NSFW on reddit or even channels on discord which are marked as 18+. I would not at all be surprised if TERF Island decides that topics related to gender or LGBT are now 18+ as well.

You are creating a false dichotomy. It makes no sense to compare unrelated things. You could equally say "People care more about banning porn than they do about starving people. Why are we spending money on implementing a porn firewall when that money could be spent on feeding hungry people?"

Why should you be mad that UK is requiring ID for many website, not even porn related? Probably because the UK government is trans exclusionary and Zionist. They will absolutely abuse this new power.

They've already blocked Pro Palestinine subreddits with it.

Multiple trans subs are, in fact, effected and being blocked in the UK. Restricting access to diy resources.

This kind of construction is typically a joke

That wasn't exactly how they said it. I can't remember the exact words but it wasn't a joke.

Complaining on the internet is easy, protesting is hard.

People care way more about literally anything than the hundreds of thousands being kidnapped by SS. I rarely hear anything about that on here, so why is this a surprise?
