Google AI search: "Just fucking Google it bro."

It has become the internet asshole that spends more time telling you to Google than the answer would have taken them lol

I’m glad AI is burning through mountains of fossil fuels to come up with revelations like this

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 48 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Why is it that when "things nobody actually wants" are too expensive, capital goes out if it's way to make sure we all have to use it. But when "things people actually need" are "too expensive" capital suddenly can't afford it.

they're desperately trying to will AI into something useful because it tempts them with the pot at the end of the rainbow (finally getting rid of labor)

[–] BynarsAreOk@hexbear.net 22 points 2 weeks ago

For techbros like Musk yeah, but there are a lot of traditional finance market capitalists that don't care about that, its only the current big thing that justifies making the line go up. They tried that with NFTs too and it wasn't even that much of a conscious class effort too.

Grifts on top of grifts on top of grifts on top of "this Torment Nexus will finally enslave all the proles and make you a quadrillionare forever, infinite growth and no more contradictions to deal with!" (a grift)

I feel like you already know the answer to this. Reserve army of labor is but one of the reasons that government doesn't provide basic necessities to all its citizens.

9000 gallons of fresh water were boiled to generate that response

This is me every time my malicious incompetence brother asks me a question.

One day, some disgruntled AI engineer is going to get fired and rewire one of these things to do nothing but be pedantic about the grammar of people's prompts and searches as their last act before leaving the office.

Fucking do it, I'd appreciate the edits

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

hell yeah. when I moved somewhere new, I did search online for the closest all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. just one of those key pieces of information to keep in the back pocket.

the real awesome move for AI would to generate a tiny url link to the LMGTFY site for this search.

[–] Monstertruckenjoyer@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Which would then recursively loop back to the answer generated by the AI ad infinitum. Throw a 5 second advertisement in there and we've just created infinite wealth

The "cat with buttered toast on its back" of money generation

Same energy as “You’re all getting grand-slamwiches they’re VERY popular.”

Like, who the fuck ASKED for this? What dipshit actually gets excited about slop being shoved down their face. If you fucking insist, let me have the option so I can say “no”.

[–] Speaker@hexbear.net 10 points 2 weeks ago

Let me "let me Google that for you" that for you.

FOR NOW there is a hack to get search results without any of the summaries that Google offers including AI summaries. It involved appending a udm=14 to the URL parameters. There is this Firefox extension that I use for this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/udm14

The parameter also removes other kinds of summaries like when Google shows you the live score to sportsball game. But it is still totally worth it.

You can also use another search like ddg (noai.duckduckgo.com even doesn't do ai shit)

Stop using Google.
