If it’s not a gecko I don’t want it!

I'm pretty sure it's a chameleon. But same, didn't need to change.

The pet won't stop being a Chameleon, just suffering a redesign

Keep in mind that because MicroOS, Leap Micro and Aeon have icons already set, this means that whoever design the rest will be restricted by the currently existing ones.

Like, both MicroOS and Leap Micro have a horizontal line and a circle in the middle. And Leap Micro basically forces a new design of Leap logo to be almost exactly like the previous one. And Aeon has the middle circle of Micro, but split into two, so Kalpa should also have the split circle somewhere.

That said, I'm not exactly a fan of the MicroOS, Leap Micro and Aeon logos. They are just outlines, and very thin. I understand that logos need to work in monochrome, but they are just.... Anorexic. Would prefer if there was an entire rebranding

Aeon’s confuses me - an hourglass is well known as a “busy” or “wait” symbol

I’m not sure I’d want that as my branding for an OS

[-] dandroid@dandroid.app 9 points 1 year ago

Exactly. It sounds like it's slow.

[-] PainInTheAES@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

You'll be waiting Aeons

[-] flyos@jlai.lu 6 points 1 year ago

Does this mean that Leap is officially here to stay? I'm still confused on that one.

I kinda like the redesigned chameleon in the SUSE logo; maybe they could let openSUSE borrow it?

... though I guess not, because brand identity is the holy of holies, and all that.

Wow, reading that left me quite confused until I realized that it's elder scrolls and not Buddhism https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalpa_(time)

Your point stands regardless 😅

[-] tslnox@reddthat.com 2 points 1 year ago

I didn't know ES lore took that from Buddhism. Cool, I learned something new, thanks! :)

How many openSUSE distros are there?... Two of the ones mentioned there I've never heard before, and there's like half a dozen others I've heard mentioned. Are these official variations or derivates?

[-] LunchEnjoyer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

All official as far as I know!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
