You know, Mazdas also have touchscreens in addition to the dials. The drivers always had the option of using the touchscreen or the dial... and they mostly used the dial because it was better in most situations. So all they've done is taken away features.

I have a 2019 Toyota and when we got it a year or so ago, I was reading reviews and stuff. One of the biggest criticisms was that the interior seems outdated. I've never had a vehicle with any kind of touch screen, but this one just has a smallish one and a bunch of the normal knobs and buttons around it.
I'm typically not opposed to learning new tech or whatever, but touchscreens in cars is just the worst idea. Capacitive touch instead of buttons and switches is the second worst idea. All of this shit is just cost saving and not actually better, it just looks fancier
It's not even entirely cost savings, there's definitely the angle making things less fixable. A button or switch is not only going to last longer than most touch interfaces but also be a cheaper part to replace.
Car companies have put massive efforts into engineering products that just barely outlast the warranty period. Touch screens are another part of that design while also being easy to showcase as "sleek" and "modern."
I will never buy a car that has a touchscreen. Knobs and dials are much more reliable, better to control, have lower failure rates. You can use them without taking your eyes off the road. With a touchscreen you have to look st the touchscreen to operate it reliably.
A car that has a touchacreen is a car they should pay me to take because it's so inferior. I would not pay for a car with a touchscreen. Maybe I'd steal one, but they aren't worth stealing -- then I'd have a car with a fucking less-than-uswless touchscreen
We believe that now with the integration of Google Assistant, which is very critical with the voice command and this newly designed steering wheel, that we can offer this together with this large touchscreen so that we don’t have the situation where people want to control parts of the vehicle and are not focused on the road
Ok, but what if I don't want to shout at my car? Do I then have to take my eyes off the road (as I do the car I drive currently) ?
