I've read so many headlines about a doctor that start with "Doctor Who..." that this time I was like "okay, haha, it sounds like the TV show, but let's see what some nutty doctor did this time..." and ended up getting double-bamboozled.

Turns out that you can't attract an audience by skimping on developing your main characters in favor of bringing back a bunch of random shit from the 1970s

I mean I think watching the season it felt like we were building to something fun. Even the penultimate episode, while being a bunch of random shit, was interesting. The problem is the last episode was just absolute garbage. It felt rushed with tons of cut scenes and context. Then after main story was over we got a weird season long story in 15 minutes plus radical character changes.

However all of the most crappy stuff happened AFTER they realized they weren't getting renewed by Disney.

So it's more like they shot themselves in the foot, and then did it again.

Well maybe they shouldn't have "split" him and just did a traditional regen. I didn't understand it, was it just a stunt to say we did a mitosis and BBC gets to keep the white Doctor and Disney gets the black?
