Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

This was this morning's view from the campsite at Ratimera, I'm currently in Picton waiting for the ferry.

I was going to post a Made-It Monday thread to see what everyone has been up to, only I haven't actually made anything myself and chickened out 😶

Hopefully I'll guilt myself into hauling my cross stitch box out this week so I have something to share next week!

Was supposed to be working today, but woke with a migraine. Coming right now thankfully.

Have some repairs to do to our composting toilet this afternoon, then maybe some Horizon Zero Dawn

Update on the trying to give baking to neighbour saga, I think the new neighbour/s may be vampire/s because they are only there quite late at night and apart from that it seems to be locked up.

If it turns out this is the case, they probably can't eat fresh baking anyway, because it's not blood!

I made "carrot curry" all by myself in the slow cooker yesterday and it turned out surprisingly well and doesn't even taste like you're eating mostly carrots.

In garden news the blackbirds don't seem to be using their usual nest. Not sure what that's about...

Maybe the neighbours are avoiding you?

[-] liv@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 year ago

I guess that's a possibility.

Don't give up just because of my silly comment! I think it's important to build relationships with neighbours, at least to the level of being familiar with each other.

It helps reduce crime! You're basically Batman if you manage to know your neighbours.

Yeah, I agree, I really value good neighbours. Where I live is pretty friendly in general. We were on cat feeding terms with previous neighbours etc.

I'm not going over there or anything like that, just trying to keep an eye out for when (if?) they are home. Might have to settle for leaving some squiggle tops and a card on their doorstep instead.

Anyone doing anything interesting for Labour Day?

Ha, must've accidentally saved the post I abandoned at the playground. Was having a nice moment while the kids seemed content playing with some friends from school, but then noticed the oldest was getting a bit sulky, since their friends were playing more with the younger, so had to go back into dad mode.

Still, turned out to be a nice day. Played hide and seek at the playground, which I enjoyed more than I expected. Then got a bus into the city, loitered a bit, got some ice creams. Pretty lowkey, but I'd take it over being at the office.

We took the kids to a pla too 🙂. It's a good day for it.

Just finished moving all the stuff out of my old house and into the new one. Today I was moving the home gym and I thought it was gonna be a mission but it turned out pretty easy.

[-] liv@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 year ago

Wait are you a guinea pig?

[-] Xcf456@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

The home gym is a running wheel

[-] liv@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Ha ha!

I know a really cool fact about running wheels: if you leave them in a field, wild mice use them!

Oh boy, moving house, one of my least favourite jobs.

Me and my 60 year old mum and dad did all the work while my sister and flatmate who are in their 20s did nothing but complain we were putting things in the wrong place.

Most of all I'm glad to be away from my neighbor who assaulted me because even after getting the police involved and trespassing him from the property he is still living there.

[-] sortofblue@lemmy.nz 4 points 1 year ago

I'm pleased you're out of that place, it sounded like such a stressful situation.

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 year ago

Oh I'd forgotten about that drama with your neighbour, I'm glad you're finally out!

[-] liv@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

I'm so glad you were able to move away from that neighbour!

Not so far but now you mention it I might go and ask if we can do something! How about you?

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

Had lunch out, stop at a playground. Just enjoying the day off 🙂
