She could be spiking the camera. Also perspective is hard. Maybe the artist just couldn't make it work and thought "fuck it, close enough, people will understand"

I never noticed just how well they executed this effect! The beard just sorta fades into existence, but just before the hairs become fully visible they start lightening the irises of his eyes, so that your eyes aren't looking at the beard while it's materializing. Excellent misdirection.
