If I had a million dollars we wouldn't have to eat Kraft dinner.

But we would eat Kraft dinner.

[–] Allonzee@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Of course we would we'd just have more!

And buy really expensive ketchups for it... Like Dijon ketchup!

[–] ALilOff@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I see they didn’t splurge for the Dino nuggets

[–] Yutzerfutz@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Ngl, that looks delicious.

[–] Takios@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 1 day ago

Of course I know him. It's me.

I've "grown up" and cook my own food, rarely eat microwave ready meals, and have even incorporated much more salad and vegetables into my diet to the point that some nights a salad with grilled chicken is dinner.

The chocolate milk stays, forever.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm getting a lil culture shock because salad and grilled chicken sounds so decadent, but I get where you're coming from.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Lol 3 heads of romaine lettuce @ $5 to last the week and a family pack of chicken breast @ $10-13 that provides lunch all week and dinner some nights. 1 large tomato and a Vidalia onion for the week as well not sure of the price. I think for the dish itself it can't be more than a few dollars. I cut up one breast into small pieces and bake that for the salads. So it's really like 4-5 pieces of a breast in the salad for each one.

So I lied, not grilled, baked lol don't know why I wrote grilled.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Damn I think I spend more on beans than you do on chicken lol

[–] Schmuppes@lemmy.today 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But homie even gets his antibiotics for free.

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 3 points 1 day ago

And they say americans don't have free healthcare !

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Same here. I get shit for buying chocolate juice boxes from time to time. They don't know what little bit of joy they're missing in their life, those fools!

[–] xylol@leminal.space 13 points 2 days ago

Milk reminds me of stomach pains in elementary school becaus I didn't know I was lactose intolerant

The one friend may be autistic and suffer food related overstimulation. This plate feels very no stress safe.

This is not a joke, its a lesser known but very common thing among us.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is constipation and abdominal cramps from the lack of vegetables not also overstimulating?

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 day ago

You would not believe the cosmic timing of how i find myself while reading this.

Id definitly label it sensory unpleasant but i would argue it cannot be compared.

The experience of both is one all humans will experience many times starting from childhood. Its a bad thing but its one you know, The experience is predictable and often the same as other times.

The experience of food is much more diverse and thus unpredictable. We all have experienced eating a “trusted” dish made somewhere else to find ourselves betrayed by “different brand”, “extra ingredient” or “chopped in unusual sizes”

Hyperbole aside (autistic adults may learn to get used to some of those suprises or mask their way trough), the exact sensory experiences are unique to each individual and many autistic people will chase certain stimulation as well as avoid it.

Some i know are:

Walking barefoot, Roller coasters, Storm chasing, And for me, somewhat ironically, some forms of fine dining.

[–] semperverus@lemmy.world 30 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I was gonna say the same thing. Everything on this plate is extremely common in restrictive autism diets. Its just missing french fries.

EDIT: This meme kind of explains it perfectly (and it applies to adults too):

Me parking myself at the kitchen counter with a quarter brick of firm tofu and pack of dried seaweed.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ay! Homie be eating the three food groups!

Mac n cheese, meats, chocolate. Don't be hatin', we all know that's how you live life the best

[–] SurfinBird@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago

Hmm.. chocolate is made of beans… mac is grains & cheese is dairy… well I’m convinced!

[–] 843563115848@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hope that's a glass of Bailey's. Better yet, Bailey's with a 20% bump of top shelf vodka. That's my go-to with a fine nugget dinner.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why use top shelf if you're going to hide all the flavour?

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Top shelf vodka should be as close to flavorless as possible, you use top shelf so it doesn't taste like rubbing alcohol was added.

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What's abnormal about this plate ? Nuggies, pasta and dessert. Idk why people make fun of things that are perfectly normal

[–] Greddan@feddit.org 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is not normal. This is the plate of someone who cannot care for themselves either due to depression (or other illness), or simply being uneducated. This person will have multiple medical issues throughout life and die at an early age due to their diet.

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean if you eat only this 3 meals a day 7 days a week, sure

But throw in some veggies next time and cut down on the choccy milk / brownies et voilà. It won't be the most healthy, instagram diet but it's perfectly fine that way

[–] meekah@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The meme clearly implies this is a regular dinner for this imaginary person. The lack of veggies and overconsumption of sugar is exactly what is being memed about

[–] LilB0kChoy@midwest.social 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

While not balanced, this isn't such a bad meal unless you assume it's all as processed as it looks.

If it's all homemade it wouldn't be that hard to make any of these "healthy" in comparison to their store bought counterparts.

As for it being bad because it's a "regular dinner for this imaginary person", I'm guessing you're unfamiliar with ARFID. I know of at least one person who has eaten like this for 40+ years and regular gets healthy results on his annual physical and tests.

[–] torch_and_blanket@sopuli.xyz 1 points 12 hours ago

You just cleared up something that was lingering vaguely at the back of my mind for a week.

I overheard fragments of a conversation between a couple in a cafe talking about "arrfidd", but what I heard didn't make sense for Radio Frequency IDentification. This works out much better.

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 3 points 1 day ago

The meme clearly implies

I'm not sure about this

It seems open to interpretation

But if that's what the author meant, yeah, that imaginary person won't last long

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Weeks with the kiddo I eat like I'm trying to make the garbage disposal jealous
